my new commuter car

Recommended Posts

I should've done this awhile ago. My LGT wagon currently has 269k on her. decided to park her, fix what's ailing her and buy a commuter.

I looked long..first at replacing the GT, and then decided on a commuter. something small. Looked at the FIT, the Fiesta, the Focus and the Sonic.

I ended up with a 2012 Chevy Sonic LTZ. 1.8L. was going to go for the turbo version, but I test drove this one and found it had enough umph. It's quick, and nimble and fully loaded. leather, heated seats, blue tooth and more.

Never thought i'd be in a Chevy. but the FIT just didn't do it for me. Neither did the looks of the Fiesta.

Black on Black. More pics to come.

I haven't driven the Sonic turbo but the Cruze with 1.4 turbo is pretty laggy with an automatic transmission. I didn't really care for it.

this is the MT. no comparing to the subie. non at all. for me...it's a commuter. most of my driving is back road non stop, I only stop at stop signs or traffic lights. no traffic. it's zippy on the highway and back roads...

C-lo, wow 269k?!? Did you get the hatch or the sedan?

hatch back. more pics today hopefully. this gives me the chance to do some work to the subie. 10k miles on a "HG leak". sent some oil to BlackStone labs and they found no coolant in the oil at all. I'm losing about 1 quart of oil every 3-4k miles. not bad. bringing it over to a buddies house saturday to put up on his lift to look at the oil supply lines to the turbo to see if there's another source of the leak. Needs a few other things done as well.
