Chris Westfall
Alright guys I really need your help. I own a 2001 subaru outback and after 20-30 mins of driving, once its warmed up. It gets hard to shift and makes a loud clunking noise in the front end. Even in neutral slowing down it makes noise. Anyone have any idea what that could be. I dont think Im losing my transmission, I think it has something to do with the clutch. Thanks in advance.
Max Capacity
After that long of a time...I have no idea. Any noise when you make a tight turn...may be a CV joint is going bad. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). Max Capacity
How is the clutch fluid ? may be its time to replace it. I think that would be the next step. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Chris Westfall
Clutch oil seems very dark. I've never flushed or changed the clutch oil. You think that would make the front end have some sort of clunk to it after warming up? And make it hard to shift?
Max Capacity
The clutch fluid should be yellowish to clear. Mine was just replaced. I'm much happier with clutch feel. The clunk in the front end is a different issue. It could be a number things. loose heat shield or end links on the sway bar. THese car are know for both. I just cut the middle heat shield of the crossover pipe and DEI heat wraped it. I also just replaced the front sway bar bushings because I had a rattle over rough pavement. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).
