IS2000 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 I'm interested in getting a 2.5 GT 5 m/t sedan or wagon. Can anyone in SoCal suggest me a good dealership to deal with? Also, what kind of price should I be looking for? Thanks
axis008 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 Hey, you look familiar. Evom.net forums? I rarely posted there but I wanted an Evo before the Legacy and remembered seeing your name a few times. Which part of SoCal are you from? I heard South Coast Subaru in Costa Mesa is pretty good. I've gone to Irvine Subaru twice just to check out their cars and a salesperson named Tom Fukunaga assisted me both times and was VERY pleased with the way I was treated. Price-wise, I don't know. With most places though, you can get $500 or lower over invoice. I've gotten that quote somewhere, don't remember where though. -ben
IS2000 Posted July 22, 2004 Author Posted July 22, 2004 Yes, I have an EVO and posted on evom.net I might have to try Irvine Subaru. They seem to have the car I want on the inventory lists. BTW, how do you like the Legacy?
axis008 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 I LOVE IT! I've never driven an Evo, so this is just theoretical opinion. Sure it doesn't handle as well as the Evo, but the Legacy can still handle well with the right suspension components. It's set up for daily use, so it's got SOME body roll. Also, people on this forum say the tires SUCK, and I know you're coming from those grippy Yokohama Advan A048 tires, so it will probably be a big change. The Legacy is plenty fast for my liking and its looks don't scream out to the cops. Also the interior is 100x nicer. That boxer sound is damn sexy and with the right exhaust and blow off valve will create a beautiful sound. You should go test drive one and see how you like it. What color Legacy were you thinking of getting? By the way, I just noticed that I used pictures of your car for a desktop I made a long time ago! You have very good taste. :D -ben
IS2000 Posted July 23, 2004 Author Posted July 23, 2004 Thanks! BTW, I'll probably be getting a Regal Blue (not sure if that's the color) GT with 5 speed to replace my family's VW Passat. I drove one the other day, and the car was very nice. Great car to drive around town, or have fun on the canyons. I was surprised the engine is very smooth (like a good V6) and built quality is very solid. If I can get a right deal, it'll probably be sitting next to my EVO soon. :)
odenheimer Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 Try Thousand Oaks in L.A. I'm down in S.D. and gave them a call. They quoted me $26,700 for a GT Limited! That's invoice exactly. :o They are probably the highest volume dealer in So Cal. You can find them through the Subaru.com website. I just ordered mine yesterday from Bob Baker. Unfortunately...it will take about 6 weeks. At least it will be a "virgin" car. Good luck.
axis008 Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 Thanks! I heard good things about Thousand Oaks as well, but it is a bit far from me. How much did you pay for at Bob Baker? Also which one? I believe there are two Bob Baker Subaru dealerships. -ben
odenheimer Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 The Bob Baker in El Cajon. I told them what Thousand Oaks would do and they nearly matched it. They sold me one from the factory for 28 and some change. They would have sold me an 04 STI for $30,100 (Blue with silver), but I wanted to go with the more "mature" car. (They still have three '04's by the way! They are really dealing them, so spread the word) It's not as fast but it's more practical, will hopefully last longer, and is still a fun ride! I was that close to getting the STI... I drove both and the STI was quick. With the six-speed, you need to shift it quite a bit more and that wing is something else. Only time will tell. Good luck. Mine should be here in about 5 1/2 weeks. I can't wait!!
awdG35killer Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 seriously, if you want a good deal in SoCal, -go to edmunds.com, -build your legacy, -and ask for qoutes from the internet depts. cheapest. no haggle price possible from 4-5 fighting dealers...i did it for my uncles tacoma and got it for $2k under invoice by a desperate dealership
axis008 Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 Well, I don't know if you can get a Legacy for $2,000 under invoice since no Subaru dealership is desperate, but maybe this process works to some extent! If anyone tries this for their Legacy, please tell us how it goes. -ben
