Mine went in perfectly. Easy job. Good youtube videos out there too on how to do it. Videos recommend two people for dropping the bumper but I did it solo without much trouble.

When I did mine, I took about half an hour just looking at the way it is attached. Unless someone can find something different, it looks like the bumper cover will need to come off in order to get the grille out.

 

I ended up just using a bunch of painters tape and newspaper and it worked out.

 

Did you also cover the AC condenser? so spray doesn't come through the grille and coat the condenser?

I just did mine along with the Subaru 3 horn upgrade. No fitment issues what so ever.
