DAP
Does anyone know how to identify the 3 pin connector used on the 2005 Legacy GT LTD auto-dimming rear view mirror? I'd like to tap power from this cable, but I don't want to have to cut the wires. I'd much rather build a short extension cable with power tapped from that. error
http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/5-minutes-install-auto-dim-compass-mirror-43314.html You can buy a mirror harness and use its plug - that's what I did to install a dashcam on our 2014 Outback: http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/99-do-yourself-illustrated-guides/178505-diy-gen-4-dash-camera-hardwire-install.html
DAP
This is a good idea, but now I need to find the mirror harness part number. I replaced the auto dimming rear view mirror with the Auto dimming rear view mirror with Home Link & compass (part number H501SAG100) when I bought the car. The connector on the mirror end is different than the one on the original, and of course the parts are not labelled with their part numbers. The mirror came with the cable, but the receipt does not break down the parts, it just shows the part number for the mirror itself.
DAP
Someone from SubaruParts.com claims the part number I want is H501SAG030. This has a description "Harness", not very reassuring. I found a photo of the cable here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69023 It looks like the correct cable, so I ordered one. Cheapest shipping is almost as much as the part itself.
