joshmikesad
I got two keyless remotes for my 97 Legacy Outback Limited from ebay. They are the aftermarket kind that say "Remocon" I purchased the correct ones according to everything I found. "GOH-M24" I followed programming procedures exactly. Except it says to hit the Lock button on the remote (while holding program button still), but this does nothing. So I try hitting the unlock button, and the car recognizes the remote. After programming both remotes, I can only get the Unlock buttons to work. The Lock button on both remotes do no work. Am I missing something here? johnegg
i would contact the ebay seller and return them as faulty. clearly you were in programming mode, and they will unlock the doors. but it seems the lock buttons do not work. link to the ebay ad? Idaho subaru
I've purchased a couple of those for my '99 forester, they work great. If a second remote did the same thing, the problem likely doesn't reside with the remote. If your doing this.... >>>Programming or Overriding the Alarm when you have lost the remote Open driver's door. Turn ignition key to 'On' Press and *hold programming button* in (see diagram, button under dashboard) After 15 seconds the the door locks will cycle 3 times. Do not release Programming button Press lock (left) button the remotes to be programmed. The door locks will cycle one time. Exit programming mode by releasing Programming button under dashboard and turning key to off.<<< And it's recognizing the remotes by unlocking the doors, than maybe something in your locking system is faulty? Thats what I deduced as well (if no one else had similar issues with GOH-M24 aftermarket replacements) The electric lock/unlock buttons on both of the front doors do operate normally. Will try to have a look under the dash this afternoon. PS At least the main function I was after is working, i.e. not having to use a key in the door everytime. SO Im hesitant to return. Edit: Looking at Owners manual I realize the key I am using is a "Submaster" key, not the Master Key, nor the valet key. I wonder If I need a Master Key to program it correctly? Anyone?
