So much to do to my leggy so little time to do it. Move back to nova and start modding my shit for me lol.

Too late for me to do that, I got little ones now. If I was still there I would have had my car finished years ago.

I do need to eventually head back that way to Dawson's Small Arms to get my ATF form again. Apparently I lost it moving 10 times in the past 7 years. I also wanted to stop by and have Tommy do my headlights. I traded him HID's years ago and never got that project off the ground.

Got the heads off finally. Got some pics but may take some more better ones later today. Separating the heads from the block was a really good feeling as if I had a clue what I was doing or something.

Miles on the parts below, cams are a different situation. Engine was MIA w/o cam covers for about 4 years so the elements got to them.

Did a little bit of cleaning yesterday, gonna start again today and try to get better pics since a few aren't that great seeing them on computer for the 1st time. So far here is what I got...

Beer Mug because a can gets slippery when you get Mobil 1 on it. Will be using AMSOIL this go around.

Was able to somewhat clean 1 cam just to see how bad off it was. I'm willing to try this when I get off t see if it helps. Not trying to toss money at something I could "safely" save if possible.

Got new to me cams, just need to get the heads to the shop and start back at this build. I want to do a lot more but rather have a running car at this point. Injectors may just have to wait but I'll still try and get the fuel pump just because I feel like that's gonna be the next thing to go when it's all running again. Trying to remember if I have a full tank of gas to deal with or not.

Wait, what, the car has not been started in 4 years ?

before you start it, you may want to put a hose on the gas line before the fuel rails into a couple of gas cans and drain what you can out of the tank.

But we see car show's on TV where they start old cars that have been sitting many years, with the gas in the tank.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.

Yes, I deployed when the car was parked and engine pulled. To the best of my knowledge it was half a tank. The syphon pumps should work for our cars? I seen some people rig the fuel pump and have it pump the tank dry into a can or something, can that be done too?

Yeah I watched plenty of roadkill and roadkill garage episodes to see them start on super old gas. I used staybill thinking I would get the car running in a year. 2 kids and 2 DD's later that didn't go as planned.

^Plus it makes sure that your pump is still operational and can produce pressure/flow out of the tank. Clear all of that out that you can.

Alternatively, you can use the FSM process which is to set cans under the fuel tank, first one side, then the other, and use the drain plugs to drain the fuel.

Drain plugs are located here:

Just use a good pentratingsolutionon them, and quality 6-point (wouldn't use 12 point) socket on them and they'll likely come out fairly easily. Inside is fuel exposed, only the external "head" is, so it shouldn't be very corroded, nor difficult to get off.

Or just do it the KZR way. I'd be afraid of those plugs with all the rust under this car.

Pull the pump.

Drop a hose in there with a brass fitting for weight.

Siphon to a spare can.

Mine was 3/4 full and gas was full right to the pump ring. :/

Dumped the fuel into a Toyota for disposal.

LOL I wish. My DD is a tuned for 93 octane vehicle at the end of warranty period. I may try that route since I may be pulling the pump to replace it too.

You'd just have to open both tank sides (Left and Right: the pump side and the refill side), and pulll the pump(s) to siphon them out. Check over your drain plugs and if they're not grossly corroded, that's the route I'd go.

I'll crawl under today or tomorrow if it ever stops raining and hope it doesn't look like this bolt in the picture...

Those states that implement Winter ice/snow abatement are cruel to these cars.

Means to an end... :( Yuck!
