FJuan
What is the starter doing? If it's sticking, you can take the upper housing off and lube up the shaft and gears. The OEM starters have know to stick due to it drying up. My wife's balls are delicious.
LegAC_GT
Not sure if stuck, but it doesnt click or make any noise, once i tap it with a brass punch and hammer it starts to crank.
FJuan
That almost sounds like it's stuck, if not the solenoid contacts are dead. An easy way to tell is pull it off and try to move the top gear up/down, that will determine if the shaft and gears are dry. Maybe a good cleaning and lube job will help, if not, time for a new/rebuilt one. My wife's balls are delicious.
compsurge
Take it apart, clean it, and lube it. I have 135k on mine and I need to clean and grease it yearly to prevent it from sticking.
LegAC_GT
I'm replacing it regardless, just needed something to hold me through for the weekend. Good to know about the sticking
chato
if you change your mind about the rebuild. takes about 45 mins longer than a straight swap. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/diy-starter-repair-remove-disassemble-grease-reinstall-w-pics-218329.html
