Azrael
I need to replace both of the Airbags after they have deployed. Beside the obvious need to physically replace both airbags what else may need to be reset or replaced. Any tips on removal & replacement would be helpful as well. They deployed do to an accident with fairly significant front end damage. I have not been able to find any guides on replacement for this part of the repair. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. Bob
johnegg
year? model? engine? trans? miles? color? the driver side is pretty easy. a couple of ''security bolts'' on the sides of the steering wheel and the center / air bag comes loose. unlock / disconnect the wire connectors and discard. install is the reverse. i have never worked with the passenger side. but if the dash cover is all one piece and that would be really dumb, it could be a huge job. parts = http://www.car-part.com sort by zip code. or post a want ad here. i have scrapped some in the past. i may have a set, what year? johnegg
the 95 driver side bag is not a match to the 97. the 95 has horn buttons in it and different mounting bolts? i guess it is possible to swap the entire steering wheel, maybe, but i don't know. johnegg
96 and 97 are a match, according to car-part.com .
tapickell
I have both from a 98 Legacy GT that I removed. The drivers side is a snap but the passenger side was a bit difficult to get out and involved removing the dash part way to be able to access all the bolts. If you need them pm me, if not I will be throwing them up on eBay with the rest of the interior parts that were removed. The only other thing I can think of to check on is the sensors at the front of the car if these went off during a collision.
