BL/BP Legacy GT Meaty Tire Thread

Recommended Posts

I am going to have my BBS CKs powdercoated. I am really considering picking up a cheap set of 05-07 STi BBS 17x8 +55 and run some MachV 15mm Conversion spacers. I want to run 255/40/17 on them for that meaty look. I have also looked at the new Enkei RS05RR in 18x8.5 +43 with 245/35/18.

Those Enkeis will not clear Brembos without spacers. SomeZero needed 5mm spacers with his in 18x9.5+45 (I think I got the offset correct.)

I am running 19x10.5 +20 front and +10 rear on a 265/30/19 with -1.5 deg front and -1.9 deg rear camber. Tell me another way to get that much wheel/ tire under a Lego without running stupid amounts of camber that render the car and your tires useless..

I could easily drop the spacers and fit 295s with a 18x10.5 +30ish wheel. In fact I already know I could fit an 18x11 +20 on 295/35/18 hoosers with just a bit more camber and maybe raising the car 1/2" or so.

My car has so-so coilovers and stock sways but all that tires forces the car to stick and the ride is sublime...

I’m pro flare... haha

P.S. I have 2 sets just chilling with no home if any of you are interested pm me.

Took my uber grip tire set on to city streets a couple weeks back. no matter how much grip you think a street tire has in width, running a full race slick on a warm spring day has to be done to be believed.

I have an instructor gig coming up in Bremerton in a couple weeks. Tempted to put the slicks on for the drive out/back. May have to take the long way. :)

The 5th Genners can up the post count if you want some BM/BR chassis pics. We don't seem to have too much trouble fitting "meaty" tires under our fenders. :icon_mrgr

255's and 275's are plentiful in our much hated on little corner of the forum.

I'll start with some 255's on 18x9+40....

Really not sure why so many BM/BR guys post up in these 4th gen threads. Are they jealous of our sleek lines or something? Maybe they're self-concious about being overweight? Or of our generation's spec B option? A little B-ness envy, perhaps?

Anywho, here's a few shots of my skinny 245s

Specifics:

Wheels: SSR Competition in 17x8.5, +48

Tires: Bridgestone Pole Position S-04 in 245/40/17

Suspension: RCE Tarmac, D/D settings

Misc: Whiteline sways, Poltec spherical endlinks, AVO brackets, all new OEM bushes F/R

Front camber: -1.5 (still on Winter settings, need to get my lean on)

Rear camber: -1.5

Toe: 0.0 F/R/C

No body or fender mods, doesn't rub at all. Still running the OEM fender liners.

Thanks gordata. I have been wanting to go 18" but haven't found the right set yet, IMO they fill out the wheel well much better.

245 on an 8" wheel will definitely look meaty. Might feel a bit squishy tho, depends on the true mounting width and tire sidewall. What tires?

stiffer sidewall tires will help with squishy feeling. Michelin SuperSport, Dunlop Direzza Z2, etc

i like how this thread barely have any fitment posts....LOL

Do you have any rub with your setup?

IIRC you have the WRX Enkeis +53 offset with 235/45/17's right?

where's yours? You had some fitment issues at one point?

no issues except at track with hard cornering, was rubbing somewhere inside the fender in the wheel well up front, no rubbing on the fenders on all corner

sold this setup a few months back, no more tracking the LGT

~3000lb old RWD 5MT car is more fun at this

sold the WRX wheels over 2 years ago

never had any issues with them

I love my current 225s on a 9.5 setup

Should be complete with fitment by the end of the week. 18x9.5 +40 265/35/18 throwing on bcbrs later at work. Either getting flares or dropping to 245..waiting to get rolled/pulled Sunday.
