soloz2 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Hello, I'm having an issue with my 06 legacy. The driver side wiper arm has a stiff pivot and especially when it's cold out it will lift off the glass on the down swing making it difficult to see. Is there a fix or a specific lube I should use to fix this? I used some synthetic grease, which helped some, but yesterday the problem was pretty bad. It didn't get above 11 degrees yesterday though. Any ideas? Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk Current: 16 Crosstrek Premium w/ Eyesight & 05 Outback XT 5MT Past Subies: 14 FXT Premium, 14 WRX hatch, 06 Legacy 2.5i SE 5MT, 98 Outback wagon
Max Capacity Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Wiper blade, is frozen ? Or are you saying the rotating spline shaft on the wiper motor is bent ? Is the black arm bent ? 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Engine Build - Click Here
soloz2 Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 The arm is not bent. There is a pivot in the middle of the arm so the arm can bend up as it reaches the top of the windshield. The pivot is sticking so it does not keep the blade on the windshield on the way back down. Max Capacity Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Then it sounds like you need to replace that arm or at least spray it with some PB Blaster to free it up, than a little oil may be. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. soloz2 Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 It's supposed to get up into the 30s this weekend so hopefully I can look at it some. Current: 16 Crosstrek Premium w/ Eyesight & 05 Outback XT 5MT Past Subies: 14 FXT Premium, 14 WRX hatch, 06 Legacy 2.5i SE 5MT, 98 Outback wagon
Max Capacity Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 If you need to replace the arm its like one 10mm nut you remove and then release the little metal locking clip and lift the arm off the splinds. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. soloz2 Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Going to look at the arm in more detail tomorrow. Looks like there is some rust at the joint that is causing the issues.
