Jcp Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 What's up guys I have a 2008 legacy 2.5i it's the non turbo sedan I'm looking for coilovers any suggestions?
Jcp Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 It doesn't really matter but all I'm looking is for some I can buy cheap for now for the spring as I build the car more and more I'll buy more expensive stuff. But for right now I'm looking at about under a g.
boxkita Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 new: br racing used: anything on craigslist or the sales section on this forum. Unless you are racing or autox, the first set you buy will be good enough. The only reason to upgrade is get more damping options, which is only applicable in motorsports. what's more important is the corner balance & alignment. Makes a cheap set act like a more expensive set Build my car Boxkita Track days
Jcp Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 It more for daily driving and meets I don't race much.
boxkita Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 any of the sub kilo c/o will be fine. Spending more money is a waste. Also, you may find a lowering spring combo a better solution. Cheap c/o don't have quite the lifespan of the more typical lower springs. Be sure you're not buying c/o because you read somewhere its the best thing to do. For a dd, it's not. @22k, mine have been lacking for awhile. Build my car Boxkita Track days
Jcp Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 I don't really like springs I tried them out on an accord I have and I don't like the setup but I will definitely look into the sub kilos
scoobyscoodle Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I would recommend a quality strut/spring combo over any set of sub-$1K coils, every day, every time, but that's just me.
idiot4hire Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Especially if it's a dd. Cheaper coils especially need to be cleaned quite often

Subaru is not Honda. What worked on a Honda, for the most part, doesn't apply on a Subaru. You don't need an intake, or strut bar, or rear brace, or stickers, or whatever else Honda bois put on their cars. Build my car Boxkita Track days

mtnbiker3000 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Well, I have been rollin' on Tein H and Koni Yellows for about 6 months. So far so good With the Koni's set all the way tight, its pretty stiff. I'm closer to the middle and it's a pretty nice ride with a nice boost in performance. But not beating the crap out of you while driving down the road... I used the 3/8" saggy butt spacers as for some reason, my rig always pointed up in the front. Not any more
boxkita Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I used the 3/8" saggy butt spacers as for some reason, my rig always pointed up in the front. Not any more this is why you corner balance c/o, so you don't have to jury rig them. Properly setup, there is no need for the spacers, as each corner can be individually tuned for height.
