silentfox Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 what bumper covers from what other subarus would fit our cars? i need a new one and i was thinking an outback or a forester bumper cover, would anything else fit?
Zues Marine Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Only bumpers '95-'99 USDM and '93-'98 JDM Legacy variants will fit without modification. Front bumpers are not sedan/wagon proprietary, however; the rear bumpers are. If swapping bumpers from a '95-'96 Brighton or L model, to anything '97+, you will more likely than not want to grab the grill too, as the latter are a bit taller and using the grill from the former will result in a 1-2" gap between the bottom of the grille and the top of the bumper cover. I have seen first gen Impreza bumpers and a third gen Outback bumper retrofitted onto these cars but they look horrid and misplaced.
natetru Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I am having same Delima, I am wanting to replace the busted front bumper on my 97 gt wagon. Problem is everything find says non gt ....... what's the deal....are they out there for gt model????
camroncamera Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 BTW you may find that factory-new bumper covers are not all that expensive from the dealership. However I believe they come unpainted. The crash bar, however, won't be cheap.
r3v_v3ng3 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 All 98-99 legacy (non outback) comes with the bumper like your 97gt
natetru Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 why do they all state that excludes gt/ excludes outback
Zues Marine Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 why do they all state that excludes gt/ excludes outback In '97 the GT bumper became the standard for all non-OB models.. foglight brackets on the beam..also the grille
silentfox Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 i took my grill out, i think it looks clean and mean with no grill, and thanks for all the input, i think im gonna go with an outback bumper cover
