Entrepit Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I have a bike rack for a 2 inch receiver that was used on my 4Runner, and I would like to keep that accessory! I know a legacy is a car car, and car centered racks exist, but I can tell i would hate one already! I don't want it near my paint and i hate straps.. What is this community doing about hauling bike, and would a 2 inch hitch be a viable and favorable option? Any big drawbacks to it? And what can be done about roof racks, any solution to avoid securing the rack onto the side panels with those big bulky brackets? Something about the racks I've seen for this car repel me.
c-lo Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 yes, you can run a hitch on these cars. if you don't like the roof rack option then this is the way to go. 258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos
05RedGTWagon Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I highly recommend checking out 1UP racks (http://1upusa.com/). I know several ppl who use them and love them. I will be picking one up in the spring too I don't know what the max tongue weight is on a legacy but I probably wouldn't carry more than 2-3 bikes on the back so you can go with the 1 1/8" option.
