seith_31 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Ok, so 2-3 months ago i did a drain and fill for my legacy (4x drain/fill) At that time, i had the atf level dead on the hot full mark Now i've just checked my atf level and its way way up the hot full mark I've drained almost a quart of atf, drove it to warm it up again, then checked on the fluid level, still way over filled. Although, when i drained some atf, tranny felt a lot lighter, a lot smoother shifts... Is there any explanation for this? Procedure i used to check atf level is, Drive for 15 mins to warm things up Park on level surface Shift through all positions slowly Wipe off dip stick Insert dip stick Read
DonnyJagaru Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Why did you drain fluid out? If you put the right amount in when you changed fluid, its not possible there could me more in there now. I think its sloshing over the dipstick myself. Some of these are hard to read. Put the removed fluid back in. It probably felt like it was shifting smoother because there's not enough fluid in the torque convertor and its "loose".
seith_31 Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 Is it possible that 2-3 months ago, i never really warmed the car up. Drove ony for 5 mins then checked the atf. Now i realised that i need more to really warm up the atf. I m thinking it was on correct level before because it not warm enough and now it shows overfilled because i warmed the car up properly, (15 min drive). Because its warm now, fluid really expanded and showed overfill.
seith_31 Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 Also am not sure if i put in right amount of fluid.... Gahhhhh....
