Bubbaray Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I had to replace my rear passenger side wheel hub and these two guys popped up on the dash. What did I do wrong . Any help is much appreciated.
Bubbaray Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 Nope not an OEM hub. Did I do something wrong?
KCwagon Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 The 55 is actually SS for "Speed Sensor". Some aftermarket hubs do not work with the factory Speed Sensors. The computer thinks the wheel is not spinning. As a result your car is throwing a CEL and is also in "limp mode", which means it will not run very well until the problem is resolved. Before you replace the hubs, you might check to see if the speed sensors are connected and properly installed in the hub. Hope this helps.
__raj Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I got the same code when stuck in snow spinning tires. It went away a I drove the car a few times.

Zac88 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 the engine should run well, but ABS will be deactivated, in my experience. AFAIK a broken wheel speed sensor will send the car into limp mode
KCwagon Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 AFAIK a broken wheel speed sensor will send the car into limp mode If you get an SS code it absolutely will send the car into limp mode. It actually just happened to me. I experienced 0 boost and a 4500 rpm rev limit. Hopefully the OP can get this resolved quickly and painlessly.
ehsnils Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 AFAIK a broken wheel speed sensor will send the car into limp mode It's a form of limp mode where the power is restricted that appears. Just to be annoying and force the car to the workshop.
