BigAls87Z28 Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I'm starting to put together what I want to do with my car, but I can't seem to find the right info for the car. I haven't found an Outback sedan or wagon with near stock ride height and wheels. I don't want to lower it, but I do want to put a set of wheels and tires on it next summer but I can't find anyone who has that so I can check up on clearance issues and all that. I'd like to go with a set of 18" XXR 530s wrapped in some sort of summer tire and then upgrade brakes while keeping the stock wheels and put some winter units on there. I wanted to go with a 245/45R18, but I'm worried about offset and rubbing issues, but the taller ride of the OB makes me wonder if it will be okay.
TurboLag23 Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 There's a guy on here (thebigd1973) who has a black 2000-2002 OB that he lowered on KSport coilovers with XXR 527's, 18x8.75 +35, and he's running a 235/45/R18 tire. He says he isn't rubbing, and his fenders aren't rolled, and he is lowered, so at stock height you should be more than OK if what he's saying is true. Post #1196. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/official-lowered-outback-thread-180375.html?p=4650877&highlight=KSport#post4650877 Personally I think that an Outback at stock height with aftermarket wheels will look kinda ridiculous, and I don't think throwing a summer tire on it will make up for the fact that your center of gravity will still be in the stratosphere, but it's your car haha. Personally, I'd consider going for a mild drop on H&R's/KYB's; should put you about at stock Legacy height. And again at post #302, with 17-inch wheels. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/official-lowered-outback-thread-180375p21.html
Nightmaresmk Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Look at this thread. I run 255/50R17 with 17x8et35 If you have positive caster bushings these will not fit they are large. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/outback-specific-wheel-and-tire-thread-208807.html?t=208807
Danteneon Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 If you are keeping stock ride height, you should not have any real problems with rubbing. I am running 245/45/18 on 8.5" wheels and 45 offset under SpecB suspension. I had to pull the rear wheel arch guard off, and the front edge of the fender cladding needs to be rolled slightly, but that's it. At stock ride height you may not have to do either of those things.
