oppi-10
So i just recently installed a uel header on my 99gt, now i'm wondering what kind of muffler i should put on. I was thinking either a n1 replica style or a glasspack with straight piping comming up and out the back. What are your guy's thoughts and would there be much sound difference between the two? 99subigt
I like the way the way the twin loop muffler makes, not too loud like the straight trough ones but beautiful aggressive sound. Check the vids on YouTube subaru with twinloop muffler. eBay for $60 and obx has some for $
Zues Marine
dear god no, dont get a twin loop muffler those are a Honda commodity, lol but seriously. Vibrant Performance, SPT, and Magnaflow mufflers are where it's at. I was rocking the Vibrant 1046 at the end of my system and it was the best sounding N/A exhaust I have ever heard. oppi-10
I was thinking more along this style because I want to just have stainless piping comming out the back on a angle https://www.google.ca/search?q=thrush+glasspack&client=safari&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=QXt7UoeYGpGqqAHkkYGwAw&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAA&biw=320&bih=416&dpr=

Kennyfvholla
Here's my 96 LGT with a UEL header, stock cats, and a glasspack. It's loud, but not too loud. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0KVzc2tz3Q]1996 Subaru Legacy GT Exhaust - YouTube[/ame] I want a Vibrant "race" straight through muffler, but that because I want it to be as loud as possible. A Vibrant streetpower 1046 is like the glasspack but smoother and probably not quite as loud.

I have a catless DP to swap on someday and I was thinking of getting a good sounding muffler when I do. My wife wants her turbo leggy to sound badass, lol. Kennyfvholla
yeah kenny, hows that working out for you? Shitty as can be. I'm already about to drop a $500 motor into the son of a bitch..... After the first motor spun multiple rod bearings, melted down the pre-cats, and bent all 12 exhaust valves. On top of that, I haven't driven it since July 28th. It also has a leaking slave cylinder and needs a transmission gear oil change. Some stupid shit, really.

Kennyfvholla
There are only two cats. You can gut, or remove the rear one because the o2 sensor is before it.

derp
Here's what I would go with if I had a naturally aspirated car. http://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1022_1031_1109 I haven't heard a single car that these sound bad on, including NA hondas, boosted hondas, turbo subarus, na subarus, turbo and NA BMWs, Audis... I'd put them on my LGT wagon if I thought they would work with my rear bumper. I could suck start a snow blower.

aac0036
I recommend Vibrant too because they're T304 stainless and pretty good quality for the money. If you look around you can really get a deal on them! Add in cost to fab, mine were $100 per muffler since the fourth gens have a messy angle to work with on each side. All comes down to preference, I really wanted oval tips and a clean OEM style look so I didn't settle.
Kennyfvholla
damn dude, ... at least parts are relatively cheap, no? For the most part, yeah. The motor I bought was from an '04 Accord with 61k miles on it. I walked out the door with it for $445. An EJ25D would have cost me three times as much for one with similar mileage. Are you sure there's only 2 pretty sure mine as three and one resonator after the third. The front two both have sensors going to them there are two. there isnt even room for a third... Yeah, there should only be two. One 90 degree cat and a regular cat right after it. After the cat pipe, there should be one resonator towards the front of the mid pipe. oppi-10
I ended up going fart can style. I asked the guy at the muffler shop and he said the glass packs were known to break apart and blow out all the insulation and sound terrible after a few weeks. Here's a quick little video of how it sounds [ame= ] [/ame]
