nouse4aname
So there's a wireless backup cam installed. It's a Peak Performance PKC0RB. Transmitter mounted in the trunk. http://i.imgur.com/PYOuDww.jpg Black to black vampire clamp on reverse light. http://i.imgur.com/TbGBXgI.jpg Red goes up towards the front of the car and presumably into one of these fuse taps. http://i.imgur.com/e2r7G2R.jpg It's got a cheesey suction cup display and that's not working. Tried all variations of lights on/off, brightness setting, in reverse, etc. No signal. So not sure if unit is dead or wiring is bad. Was going to keep it if it worked, but since it's not was thinking of doing the nav hack and feeding a new cam signal to that, this wireless one doesn't seem to have a standard video out. But wait there's more. There's also a boost gauge so I presume the other tap is for that. What is this cylindrical thing? It's zip tied on there so presume not stock. http://i.imgur.com/XrMFzV8.jpg http://i.imgur.com/btE0SiE.jpg Also whole reason I went looking in here was to install the tapturn flasher module. However, I can't get my fingers up in there. Tried unclipping the board to pull it down but the curved metal member there doesn't allow enough clearance to get it out off the clip then down. Maybe if I pulled out the top two rows of modules I could...but this is supposed to be a 1/5 difficulty install so I must be missing something. And the other mystery. 3.5mm jack running out by the aux-in. I tested the whole quiet track on a cd deal to see if it was Jazzy and does not appear to be. Any other ideas? http://i.imgur.com/ULAk66g.jpg
apexi
To me, the cylinder looks like it could be #11 in the attached image, the cigarette lighter power adapter for the monitor. It looks like the cylinder is plugged into a remotely wired cigarette lighter adapter, and the "other side" picture looks like it could be a second unused adapter port. Just my guess. I would try pulling the cylinder out, and seeing if it is in fact a cigarette lighter adapter. I'm pretty sure those cylinders have a fuse in them if you unscrew the tip, I would see if the fuse in there is blown **Actually, after giving it more thought.. I think the cylinder, and the part labeled "other side" is just a single outlet cigarette lighter adapter. That's probably where he plugged in the backup camera power to, to keep things clean and out of the way. And after looking at the image below a little closer, it does look like there is a fuse in the end of the power adapter, labeled #10.
nouse4aname
Ah think you may be right on that. Will have to open it up again and see if I can stick a cig power plug in there. Wonder why he left the cam and monitor but took out the power cable. In any case when I did power it up with a spare cable from an old radar detector thee was no signal. nouse4aname
That was indeed a cig lighter socket. Plugged the cam into that in case it was wanting that to be powered for it to work or some such but still no signal. So I just stuck a usb adapter in that and now I've got a phone charger a bit more neatly put away than just dangling down to the plug by the shifter. http://i.imgur.com/5PfygZB.jpg Of course work is upgrading me to the 5s this week and I'll need to crack it open again to swap out to the micro usb...ah well. Getting more used to working back there. Figured out the flasher removal while I was in there too. That board wouldn't release pulling straight forward...had to twist it to the right and smooth sailing from there. Think I'm just going to remove the backup cam. So only mystery left is where does that 3.5mm jack go. This weekend I'll have to crack open the center console.
nouse4aname
Well when I went to install a backup can hard wired to the nav yesterday I finally found out what the 3.5mm cable in the console was...just a 3.5mm extension cable. It routes from the center console and comes out behind the dash/steering wheel. Presume from there he must have just plugged in another cable for a phone/mp3 player. So after all this time just found out its a hidden extension cord.
