Thinking of installing an Intake

Recommended Posts

I have a 2007 legacy, it's no GT but I was looking to find something to give it a nice sound and a slight performance increase, I've only had this car for a year, so please give me your input on if it's worth it, or anything else that might give me a performance increase, or if you know where I could find one that could work with my car. Thanks! http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/28/u5e6aga8.jpg

To the best of my knowledge, just an intake won't give you all too much of a power increase. The stock intake is the best for a stock motor. To actually reap the benefits of the minor power increases you would have to get a tune as well. My .02, I'm newer to the LGT world, so I may be off. Anyone, feel free to correct me.

If you're still interested I believe both Cobb and Perrin make intakes that will work. It's going to be the same as an 08+ WRX.

He has a 2.5i not a GT so disregard that post ^… 08+ WRX intakes fit but the MAF sensor doesn't, by the way.

Do not put an intake on your car. You will benefit from nothing. Make it sound good and look pretty and you'll be happy. :)

I obviously need a checkup on my eyes. Thanks for the clarification, blongo804.

Performance wise, not a lot you can do that won't adversely affect your engine. You may want to consider lightening up the front crank pulley, or going with lightened crank, alternator and power steering pulleys. But beware, some designs are better than others, so do your research.

Upgrading your stock swaybars, struts and springs will go a long way toward making the car handle much better, but, if you do it, do it right and, again, do your research.

As always, YMMV.

The net affect is that LW Pulley (LWP) help you to overcome the inertia found in heavier pulleys, which, in turn will help your engine accelerate faster and slow-down quicker. Same principle applies to LW flywheels (LWFW).

I do not recommend going with LWP(ies) and a LWFW (in case you have a 5MT) as this can have a negative affect on engine and driving dynamics. So, given the choice, I'd opt for the the LWP because it's the easiest to change-out and has nearly all of the effect of the LWFW with a lot less hassle. And it's easier to revert back to stock if you don't like the change. ;)

What are some places or websites I could find these products, and anything else you might recommend? I've been thinking about some kind of moderate sounding muffler or something just to make my car sound cool along those lines?

I'm just looking to make my car a slight bit faster so I can blow by my friends in their civics and GTI's 😉

Might try this and this [Let Me Google That For You's website]

I know you weren't trying to be a jerk, but perhaps the OP was looking for advice regarding which dealers we recommend (best pricing, service, workmanship, etc.) based on our experience and wasn't just being lazy. I strongly dislike when people are unwilling to try to learn something for themselves... almost as much as I dislike it when somebody is unwilling to give the advice he has to someone seeking it. Pointing out our vendor section is easy, and it helps our vendors.

EDIT: Okay, if I had posted 34,000 replies to people, I wouldn't have been as patient as you were. Haha

OP, you should check out the vendor section of our forum, which can always be accessed from the links at the top. Among others, I've been happy doing business with Infamous Performance.

Haha alright thanks sorry to harass you

Seeking advice from someone who's "been there before" isn't harassment; it's being wise. That said, we have many great threads already! Check out the technical forums to see what's worked well (or hasn't) for the rest of us.

Subaru Legacy Forums > Technical Forums > Naturally Aspirated Powertrains (2.5i, 3.0R, 3.6R)

EDIT: Pro tip: If you can't find something on this site using the built-in search, you should also try using google's site: argument. For example, you might type "LWCP crank pulley site:legacygt.com" into google.

No harm, no foul, it's all good. :)

I knew the OP was looking for recommendations, but, IME, pointing out a few possible "choices" leads one to explore other areas, and to delve deeper into the realm of "what if?". A variation on "teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime..." if you will. Or, in this case, find ways to spend money he never dreamed possible.:lol:

And good call on the vendor section. Always recommend them first. They're the best.
