STAwag
I'm a noob to subaru vehicles. So let me ask you guys this. Can I take a 1999 legacy ej22 and bolt it directly into a 1996 legacy. Will all the plugs match up?
Zues Marine
negative, '99 is a phase 2 motor.. you'll need to do some heavy work to get it running what you should look for is the phase 1 2.2 from the 95-98.5 L-variants
STAwag
Ok cool I really should have asked around before I bought the engine. Lol. I guess the search begins for a phase 1. Thanks for the help zues
pleaidestar
You can use the block from that phase 2 you would just have to use the original heads and wiring...in fact the 99-block with 96 heads will give you a higher c/r but will make it a valve interference type motor. Where you from, I have a phase 1 block minus the oil pump I would be willing to sell if you are around my area.
