Positioning of the Cat on Aftermarket Downpipe?

i notice most company place the cat toward the top of the downpipe,

 

and i noticed the more expensive pipes the cat is toward the end,

 

any reason for this?

 

does one create more power?

 

id imagine it probably has a slightly different sound, but not positive,

 

any input is really appreciated!

 

 

i was planning to purchase erz catted one, but i dont mind spending the extra money for the cobb one if its a better design
