Ivant
A while back I commented about not having changed the cars brake fluid for a long time (for ever). It got me thinking about anything else that might need doing. Two things came to mind. first the fuel filter, something I'm sure has never been changed. Looking in the manual it says P for perform after 50.000km. I know what I and R stand for, but it's a bit sketchy on what Perform actually means. Then there's the rear wheel bearings, again something that's never been touched and another P. By the way the Legacy is only FWD, so it's just a couple of hubs in the rear. The car has just hit 224.000ks and runs like a dream. So I'm wondering should I look into these two things or just leave well enough alone ? monkeyposeur
Leave the wheel bearings alone if they aren't making noise and definitely change your fuel filter. Remove the six screws that hold the access cover and disconnect the the harness plug and crank the engine until it dies to relive fuel pressure before installing the filter. jarmerson
Don't fix it if it aint broken but A+ for attention and preventative maintenance. The only reason I look at other peoples cars is so I can see my Subie in the reflection - Carver Snell Check out 2nd Gen Legacy Enthusiast & Resource Directory
