ffrpwner
Ok first of all. I took time to search. Ive read a few threads asked a couple people, and still havent got the answer im looking for really. So humor me. Ive replaced a wheel stud in the front before it was cake. Used the the hammer method. I want to replace all the rear studs with extended from arp. To support 10mm spacers. Now I assume I will need to pull the hub in order ti do this and have them pressed out and press in the new ones. Been told hammering them all out could harm the wheel bearing. Is there a good walk through for this. Is it really as difficult as people say? I only have 60k miles rust is pretty minimal. Also am I better off buy a new hub assembly and just switching out? Id rather just hammer out and pull then through but. I know you have to remove the hub to fit extended studs so I guess I have to man up. Who has done it before. Are there any tips or special tools you used. Ive done alot of diy jobs clutch motor mounts suspension. But ive never really messed with the axle area so im a bit intimidated ha. Also anyone know if you can just buy hub assemblies with extended studs already pressed in.
sheppo9
I did this last week, got new hub/bearing assemblies. Hammered out old stock studs, pressed back in ARP studs. Fairly easy to swap the lot over - thou I did have the diff already out for something else. Didn't need any special tools. I haven't seen new hub/bearing assy's with extended studs already in.
