specialB
Was sitting in my friends driveway (decent slope) waiting for him to come outside about 5-10minutes. Picked him up and backed into the road only to notice that my temperature gauge was reading in the top of the normal operating range (not in the red). After driving for a few seconds it came right down and even went a little below normal operating temp then returned to normal. After this I did not notice the temperature rise again, but at the same time I was never sitting for more than a minute or two at a light otherwise i was just driving until I reached my destination. Sounds like a sticky thermostat? I hope its something as simple as that. I'm going to have to do some more preliminary tests before I start ripping into things. BTW: I have an issue with my car (since i bought it in 09) where the cooling fans are always running as soon as you key the car to the on position. I had it checked for the recall some time ago and it didn't come up.
lee07
Could be a thermostat, get it pressure tested. Mine was doing the same thing as yours and it was just a loose upper hose clamp. Try burping it first
specialB
Thanks I'll have to look into that over the weekend Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
specialB
weird, I let it warm up from cold all the way and then let it sit running for a few minutes after being warmed up and it never over heated. I squeezed the upper and lower pipes a few times while it was warming up and did hear a little burping. I also noticed that one of my cooling fans doesn't run at all. Usually both run from the second you turn the key to "ON".
iNVAR
Both fans were always running in the past? That's not right. Sounds like you need to get your ECU replaced. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/cooling-fan-relay-issue-now-recall-campaign-55332.html As far as the overheating goes, did you have air in the system? When the car is cold, crack open both reservoirs and check. Top off with 50/50 or 60/40 if needed.
lee07
Did you take the cap off when running to release any air? Heat turned on? Double check all the clamps/hose to make sure it's on and tight as well Hopefully that was all it was. Turn the ac on to see if the fans work
Brian3676
Over heating with both fans on full speed sounds interesting. Sometimes a bad radiator cap will cause system to loose pressure and over heat....
AZP Installs
Since you noticed it when at an angle, my money is on a trapped air bubble in the system. That's the easiest and cheapest to fix, so start there. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts.
