adosdrummer
Anyone ever mess with this table? does it act as a multiplier to target boost? I have added 5% but boost seems to come on slower. I need to get a log of my first gear pull, but I hope to get that tomorrow night. Boost in all gears is good, but just trying to achieve more boost in first since there is such a short time period of load, the acceleration feels kinda flat to me, and not as abrupt as say a second gear stab at 3500 rpm's. iNVAR
This reminds me, did you ever sort out your boost issues? I remember you made a thread about posting your base timing tables and it was determined that you're off by your target by as much as 5 PSI at some points. Also: http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6100 http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3505 Check the help text within ROMRaider itself (View->Properties I think) It's not a multiplier. It's exactly what you see the text say it is: %. I haven't played with it myself, but only because I haven't got the time at the moment. I started looking into this about a year ago and sort of forgot to go back to it.
adosdrummer
I have fixed my boost issues with a lot of trial and error in the TD tables. I eventually sacrificed spool time for more stable boost. It wanted to over shoot then over compensate, then ran out of limit to correct and would sometimes through a code for the solenoid to be out of range in the higher gears. Im using the GS ebcs. I will continue to play with the 1st gear tables and see if I can regain some of the snap back. But interestingly enough I have logged more than 300 g/rev at 18psi with texas heat.. I did not think the stock turbo would flow that much in 95+ weather..
iNVAR
I think you have the units/values mixed up. Load is expressed in g/rev and can peak somewhere around 3.0-3.3 (temperature dependant) for the stock VF40. The MAF reading is g/s, which is in the hundreds, I think peaking around 250-270g/s for the VF40. So did you mean 3.0 load? And yes, it takes a lot of trial and error, and it does have to be a compromise without per-gear tuning. I was trying to give you some input in your original "post your base timing" thread. Did you have to pull much timing as a result of producing more boost? A 3-port helps a tiny bit too, but not a huge amount. If you get things dialed in right and working properly, TDP should help you spool and TDI shouldn't accumulate until you're getting close to your targets. That way, you won't have to set some ridiculously high Initial WGDC values to spool faster (let TDP do that), which is what I suspect was causing your overboost problem in higher gears? adosdrummer
yes, I have had loads of 3.15+ with 90+ degree weather. I forgot my decimal, haha and no, this car seems to beg for more timing with the a2w intercooler and ELH.. And yes, I was trying to achieve it with higher WGDC values and not playing with the TD tables. Your suggestions have helped for sure, and I appreciate it. iNVAR
No prob. 3.15 in 90+ is fantastic. Wow, if you haven't pulled much (or any) timing, that's amazing. You were running quite a lot...
adosdrummer
Timing is in the low mid 20's, so she runs decent.
