Creepy Old Guy
My 94' AWD MT wagon is sagging in the rear. It is a good 1.5" lower than the front. I'm getting ready to install new struts, anything I can do while I'm back there to level it out? The car has 230k miles on it, could the springs be shot? whitetiger
springs do sag over time. Loss of gas pressure in a blown strut can make the car sag too. they also sell saggy butt spacers if you replace the strut/spring and its still lower than you'd like. Creepy Old Guy
Where would I find saggy butt spacer? I don't think I want to google that at work, the results might get me in trouble:icon_chee

snederhiser
Hello; I would replace both units complete either new or some good used units. Thinking that some later model units out of a Outback station wagon should fit the bill. In my neck of the woods (Denver), can be had for $60.00 + core charge. Thinking outside of the box, Steven. Creepy Old Guy
Thanks for the info. I will pick up some spacers before I take it down for the strut replacement. I'm half tempted to retire this car and buy a newer Subie. The suspension is toast on my car, debating if it is worth the time and effort or if I should just move on. On the positive side, my car has NO rust, most of the gen 1 car I see are getting pretty ragged looking.
monkeyposeur
You can get new KYB-GR2s online for about $300 shipped last time I checked. I wouldn't retire your Subie yet. I bet it has a lot of life yet.
Creepy Old Guy
I wouldn't retire your Subie yet. I bet it has a lot of life yet. I'm trying to convince myself to keep it. It runs good, has a killer stereo in it and is in decent shape for an older car. No car payments and cheap insurance is nice too. The suspension is in sad shape, it drives like a bowl of oatmeal. It needs at least one ball joint, struts and who knows what else is clunking around under there:eek: I keep looking at newer cars, I would really like something a little more modern, faster, handles better, more comfortable as I'm in it for 3 hours a day. I looked at an Audi A6 and a couple of Legacy GT's yesterday. Must resist!
lockmedic
ditch the 94 and get an 05+ LGT. The brand has come a long way in 10 years.
