SmackDaddy
dammit why is it so hard to find BL ... i saw somewhere they sell FT232BL chip itself, is it possible to replace the chips of this device? or something like that? SmackD that ch30... chip is still fine for just logging right? Dunno about replacing the chipset. As for the cable, it works with LV. It doesn't work with EcuFlash. I haven't even tried to log, mostly because for my year of ownership I've been chasing lean issues. I finally gave up on all that and put a new block in, and only have 800 break-in miles. Fortunately for me Cryo is local, so I'll get a road tune once I've finished the break-in.
chato
after arguing back in forth in Engrish with ebay seller Autotopia for three weeks, I think I finally got them to change the listing to remove the ft232BL from the title. they will probably put it back in there tomorrow. chato
gotta love a "smooth-dealer" anyone check into this one again? http://www.ebay.com/itm/221308400341?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I'm a little skeptical as it has the same driver mini-cd as the other fakes I bought. Have to say, I am enjoying the tactrix. small price to pay when it comes to something as precious as the ECU.

giogio43
i jsut send a email to them... lets see. UPDATE he said that that the company he buys from ensured him they put 'FT232BL' chips in them. he himself will not open it to check if the chip is the right one. plus its located in china so shipping will take a long time, he offered to pay 28$ for dhl... but im not gonna really trust them, but anyone else is welcome to give it a try. Evnldr
Here is the auction I emailed about VAG-COM USB KKL 409.1 cable for AUDI VW OBD2 OBD 2 FT232RL Chipset. Seller: gameadvance http://www.ebay.com/itm/321180765164?item=321180765164&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr Here is his reply: Dear evnldr, Hi, I don't have any pics of the cable open. I can confirm they are FT232RL. I know what I sell. If they're not what I state they are, I'll even pay return shipping and I would expect that you'd be the first to leave me negative feedback for something I sold that wasn't what I said it was. There are several projects out there that use my cable because they're good quality and have the FT232RL chip they need to use ( http://m44.wikia.com/wiki/Getting_Started is one ). Best Regards, Erik

giogio43
yes yes it has to be FT232 ''BL''... FT232RL is easy to find but they are good for logging only. FT232BL can log and flash.

fishbone
Don't blame something on malice than can equally be attributed to incompetence. I think this is a classic case of the seller doing drop shipments and his source just played a switcharoo on him without his knowledge.
