psulemon
Basic information 07 Spec B, StopTech Pads, Centric Rotors and stock lines (because we discovered one line had a stripped bolt so I couldn't do my stoptech lines. Anyways, we got the brakes and rotors changed without an issue. We saw a thread on the gravity method (to include using the turkey baster to extra from the reservoir) of bleeding the brakes, so we tried that. Once we finished up, I noticed the pedal wasn't firm and sunk right to the floor. Ok, no problem... so I decided to go old fashion and used each other to bleed the brakes. After that, the pedal felt pretty firm until I turned on the car. So when the car is off, the pedal is very firm and doesn't move, but as soon as I turn the car on, which I assume the ABS sensor is begin activated, it gets really soft. Anyone have this issue? Side note, we did go through an entire bottle of Motul 5.1 (yes, I realize this is overkill but my buddy got a great deal on it). The reservoir is full, so I am a bit perplexed. sheppo9
It's goes 'softer' because of the brake booster. That's how stock lines feel, soft/squishy. Put on the braided lines and there will be a good improvement.
psulemon
By squishy, I mean it goes right to the floor. It doesn't even come close to how it felt before I did the brake job. For example, the brakes don't even really engage until the pedal is half way down.

If the fluid was black then a line replacement will help since that's the inner walls of your lines in the fluid. I did brakes in this order to determine what did and did not offer better pedal feel: 1. Grimmspeed Master Cyllinder Brace - this was a huge improvement alone (with all else being stock), because it takes the soft firewall flex out of the equation. 2. New Pads and rotors - I was due and went Stoptech. After bedding brakes were really good. 3. Fluid flush and refill and bleed with SS lines - My Stoptech kit came with lines so it was just to do as preventative and see what kind of improvement I would get. It made no difference in pedal feel, just freshened up the equipment. My OEM lines were fine - YMMV. Sounds like you need to bleed the brakes again since you have some air in the lines. iNVAR
You either still have air trapped in the system somewhere (maybe even the ABS sensor...) or you blew out the seals in your MC if you stepped on the brake too hard while the lines/bleeders were open. psulemon
So as a follow up, I had air trapped in the ABS sensor. Got it fixed and the brakes are awesome.
