Finally got my OBXT!

INVNO1

Which rotors are you going with?

I just finished doing my LGT rears and honestly I probably won't use these Brembos I have now. Rotors I am using for this setup are StopTech rear slotted LGT and BrakeSwap.com premium slotted for the front.

Car still needs a bath and I am gonna bring the rear up just a bit, but all brakes are on and also coilovers too. I was expecting a much more harsh ride with doing these coilovers but I am very pleased with them.

Finally got my exhaust on as well. I picked the exhaust up from a fellow member on here right after I got the car. It's the Gimmick MS one for a LGT so it needed to be modded to fit. However, I did not do the longer hanger thing that I have seen a lot on here. We cut the tips off and welded up some turn-downs instead. It keeps the mufflers tucked up more and helps keep it more stock looking(I think). I used a high-temp black powder coat on the Y-pipe already and will be doing the same thing to the mufflers as well.

Got some new pics from the weekend. Took the car out with a bunch of friends for a race weekend. Went drag racing Friday night and then went to Gingerman Raceway for some road racing on Saturday. Friday night went awesome! Saturday on the other hand........... clutch decided to not wanna hold after just three laps in the very first heat. I was still able to drive the car that night and it still made the two hour trip home. Will not hold under boost though. Shopping time tomorrow! LOL! Here are some pics. On a good note though. I DID still get to put some seat time in with the black wrx wagon(it's my previous car that I built and sold to my best friend) in the pics.

This first pic is crazy. It looks as if I am parked but I am actually on the highway doing ~75mph

What turbo you on now? What kind of times/traps were you hitting?

Stock turbo is still on for now. I am still in the process of getting my ej257 finished built before I put on my modded gt3076r. As far as times and traps go. My best pas was 14.28 @97mph but I couldn't get the stock clutch to grab so my best 60ft was a weak 2.20.

Rubenn, you make me wonder what I'm doing with all my time and money...

(oh, right - I don't have any!)

Car is coming along nicely and looking legit!

HAHA!! Thanks, Ben!!

On another note. After a couple weeks of researching, reading, PM'ing people, calling venders, and racking my brain about a clutch. I finally made a decision. I wanted something that would have 400wtq capable, but still be somewhat streetable. I finally chose to go with the Competition Clutch Stage 3 with flywheel. Also added a Group N trans mount and a set of TIC X-member bushings. I will be posting a full review of the clutch/flywheel throughout break-in and post break-in.

And YES, I DID purchase all this from a supporting LGT.com vendor. All parts were purchased from Oakos.com The team over there has the BEST customer service!!

What did you do for your grille. I just picked up an 05 OBXT 5mt and I want something different than stock but can't find anyone willing to mod one or make one for it, and most of the ones that I do see are custom. Do you know of any threads on modding something thing to fit from like a LGT? Love the build though

Hey thanks for the complements! For the grill, I searched and searched myself and couldn't come up with anything. I decided I would just do it myself. I pulled the factory grill out, took my snap-on hand saw and cut the center out of it(there are four spots to cut), and then I took it to my neighbor that does paint and body. I told him what I was wanting it to look like. He had to build up the areas where I cut the center out to make everything uniform. The factory chrome plastic coating does NOT like paint being applied though, so if I were to do it again, I would blast the chrome off and then do the build up. I drove with it for a couple months before I added some mesh to it. I powder coated the mesh in a durable wet black so it wouldn't chip off if a bug hit it. Here are a couple newer pics. The front shot shows the grill with the mesh.

I really love the way it looks with a mesh style grille in these wagons. I might just have to look into having my buddy do the body work for me and maybe wrap it with 3M di-Noc vinyl since I cant get a real carbon fiber one made. although I did email r-rev asking if they ever considered making a mesh style grille for the outback so we shall see what they say

Alright, so I haven't been doing a lot of updates on here lately. Mainly because I have actually been able to just drive the car. I HAVE still been putting in work FOR it though. Updates for the suspension, trans, and motor.

Suspension/Wheels

-Getting the saggy butt spacers on my stock LGT/Winter struts/springs

-Whiteline FINALLY came off back order on KTA124 control arms(going on as I am typing this

-fixing a small clunk from some dirt road adventures a couple months ago

-Got around to having my stock wheels sand blasted so I can throw some powder on them

-Blizzaks are at Discount Tire waiting to get mounted

Trans

-Picked up some Moore Performance Blast Plates

-Finally getting around to install my Torque Solutions shifter bishings

Motor

-Block halves are now bored(+.20)

-Heads are now fully assembled

-picked up some ACL HX series bearings

-ARP head studs finally came in

-engine is out for full assembly

-Injectors have been shuffled a couple times but settled on FIC 1100s

-Still slacking on powder coating my deleted TGVs(I'll get to it one day. LOL)

-Waiting for my FIC fuel rails so I can finish up making the all lines

-Picked up a Fuelab FPR w/gauge

Still debating on a header. Maddad, AP, ported Grimmspeed manifolds and X-pipe?

Alright, so I have spoken before about me being a powder coater. Wheels are what I do the most. Lots and lots of wheels! LOL! I have always came up with great ideas for bright and off the wall colors for my customers and my friends for their vehicles. Myself, on the other hand, I have always been a bit on the boring side. Matte black, gloss black, gunmetal, and sometimes I will throw in a sparkle clear but its always very subtle. I have been being challenged by a few of my friends to do a color that is "WOW"! Below are my stock wheels that will be used only for winter and I chose about the most "wow" that I could find. Something I did on these that I haven't done for any of my customers though is that the entire inner barrel of the wheel I left in matte black while only doing the color on the front. I felt it would be easier for cleaning and also change up some of my normal processes. Let me know what you guys think. Good or bad.

Here you can somewhat see the black inside the barrel

Oh yeah, they're black light sensitive too!

So - I don't actually know because I never measured, this thread leads me to believe our engine sits lower -

http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3789576&postcount=30

The front subframe spacer needs to be removed. By removing that aren't you moving the engine up?

plus the transmission gets raised an inch also. Wouldn't raising the transmission an inch screw with drive angles if the engine wasn't also raised?

I also need to compare these pictures to my splitter to see if there is any difference.

Edit: one more comment.

I stand corrected. Although I have not had a single issue with any engine, trans, or suspension part going onto my car thus far, and everything I have purchased has been for LGT and my list of parts is quite long.

Yep, everything from an LGT fits. Except as far as I can tell the splitter (maybe)....
