Me new shortblock and goodies

Recommended Posts

Well after figuring out all the issues and problems since I purchased this thing it's time to play. I have a thread out explaining all the issues I had out there.

I bought a bunch of stuff to throw in including.

New shortblock with updated crankshaft

Vf52

740cc DW

AVO FMIC

Cobb shorty intake

255 LPH pump

It was quite an adventure installing all this in a weekend mostly at night due to spending time with da. Fam.

I do lack pics due to to being so focused on the build itself, had to have car ready before the next work week! I now have almost 200 miles on her.

But here is a few.

Can you link us to the other thread ? Why did you do this ?

May be that explains why you didn't replace the oil cooler and oil pump.

Why did I do what? If your referring to repacing the engine, it was due to broken ringlands from the previous owner. I bought the car that way but didn't realize it till it was to late.

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the oil cooler and pump as they were replaced even though they were ok since it wasn't a catastrophic metal everywhere failure.

The car feels nothing like it did before, I didn't realize on how much power I was lacking as I should have gone out and test drove some other ones. Can't look back now though! I purely love and enjoy this car now! I can't wait to get a protune on it so I can really lay into the throttle

I have been doing some adjustments on accessrace but I'm no pro.

I'm thinking about installing a NA legacy hood and slapping a "baby on board" sticker on the back window to give it more of a sleeper look, haha

Thanks for the whole story, makes sense now.

There are a bunch of threads about bad engines and people replacing them only to have more issues.

Didn't know your story.

Good Luck, like you said, you need to get it tuned.

Yeah I didn't fully explain the issue. I see where you where getting at, I have seen some of the threads where people skip major parts of an engine build and shoot themselves in the foot!

I'm no shortcut taker, I installed all new rubber hoses, valve seals, anything that should be replaced for a reliable engine build was replaced.

yeah that was quick! my similar rebuild/repairs took me all winter, sneaking out to the garage one hour per day if i was lucky. still running strong though.

it's great that you did the valve seals while you were in there too. old seals can be a contributor to oil consumption.

great that you got it back together quickly, unlike me. but, it's not my only vehicle so,

what did you do with the heads? Rebuild or no?

Yeah it was back breaking doing it all over the weekend. But it was worth it.

No rebuild on heads just slapped some new valve seals on and redecked them.

Yeah I have made that mistake once! replaced a head gasket on a early 90's prelude once and after two weeks the car started smoking badly due to valve seals. Had to do it all over again.
