ZX2Fast
I have a single DIN radio in the 98 LGT L wagon now and it stopped working. The amp died in it. When I was installing that radio it looked as if I would easily be able to install a double DIN without need of any type of kit because of the way the mounting plates are made for this car. I'm guessing that is because some of them came with a CD player that was the same size as a single DIN radio. My question, is it really that simple? Can I simply install and double DIN without cutting anything or with need of a kit? I'm putting a flip down DVD player in place of the overhead light so I was thinking of getting a DVD player for the radio as well so I could control DVD's from the front. Has anyone installed a flip-down ceiling mount DVD in this car? Any special issues or is it going to be like my last install where I simply mounted the player to the interior light brace? Scruffy
I don't have a flip down dvd in mine, nor have I ever installed one. But I can atest that it is just that simple to install a double din. just pull the mounting brackets off the cubbie and eom radio and that's all you need
Stang70Fastback
The premium sound system option came with a (rather nice) double din unit made by McIntosh. So yes, it really is that easy. I have one ofthese in there now and it bolted right in. http://www.jo-dis.com/images/azautosound/Pioneer%20FH-P8000BT.jpg
Zues Marine
As for the flip-down deal... that may end up more difficult.... I looked into aging the map light deal to the top but there not a lot of support up there... You may need to fab up some brackets to keep it from falling under its own weight
ZX2Fast
Sweet, time to go double DIN hunting. I guess I'll find out about the roof support when I get to that part.
