DoctorLGT
Hey, I use a car cover 5 months at a time. I go to school in the caribbean so when I leave I put my car under an ebay car cover, and I put an extra blanket on the roof to prevent any acorns from damaging the roof (learned the hard way since getting my LGT in 2005. I also use some tie-down straps I got from home depot to make sure it doesnt come off. Because the strings it comes with are useless. I got it from this user, its the 6 layer cover http://www.ebay.com/usr/thecoverfactory

jp233
I think if dude uses it for 5 months straight at a time, it would work for occasional use... Oh and DoctorLGT do you plug the exhaust, AC drain line, airbox, and vents when you go away for that long? I only say that because especially up north field mice and other little rodents love to make nests in the evap box, airbox, etc when it gets cold. Had a beater grand cherokee years ago that the little B&*A(S^tids ruined the HVAC and it took forever to rip the dash apart and clean it to where it A) wouldn't stink and B) would actually work properly in all modes/etc
bluesuby
I use a cover primarily to keep the sun from baking the paint. I believe the fabric is "NOAH" and I put it on the car sporadically from May thru October.
DoctorLGT
I have my dad or brother drive my car every two weeks for a few minutes, to make sure everything is ok. Other then that I dont really plug anything up. But i do have her connected to a trickle charger.

I garage my car but I have several other cars that sit and only are driven occasionally and that's a great idea.
jp233
Hey JmP -- said rodent problems were from the mitten of Michigan..... those lil bastids got in 3 vehicles over the years, and while traps and such are good around the garages too, nothing beats buttoning up the vehicles so they just can't get in. The vents are the hardest, big blankets across the bottom of the windshield worked OK though, weighed down by something. Write a checklist of all the stuff that is plugged up, and tape it on the steering wheel so someone doesn't try to start the motor with something in the exhaust pipe! I think the checklist was -exhaust(s) - AC evap drain - AC recirc box (just make sure it's shut before parking for long-term) - airbox(es) - air freshner in the interior - all trunk/spare tire plugs in, any other body plugs and holes through the firewall - vents They can still make nests in open areas like behind bumpers/fenders especially with all the plastic on cars these days, since it doesn't get as cold as metal. But as long as it's not inside some system, not terribly difficult to get to, and definitely NOT in the interior of the car.... it's not a big deal.
