root_galaxy
Alright guys, I'm looking to lower my car a little and get rid of the body roll at the same time. Now i don't track my car or do any Auto X, only spirited mountain runs so no need for $2000 Coilovers, plus I live in CO and don't want to have to be washing and taking care of them from the snowy roads all the time. I'm thinking of getting in on the Epics Group buy but would like to do the Struts at the same time. Now is it true that KYB's are just a direct replacement of the OEMS? (No performance gain??) And obviously the Koni's do get performance and adjust-ability but how much more over the KYB's is it?
Gex
KYB's are a factory replacement you will see no performance gain from the damper at all. Koni's will be a night and day difference over the KYB's it will be very noticeable.
JermTheElf
Unless they make AGX's, the AGX's are upgrades.
whitetiger
AGX's stink too.
idiot4hire
Koni + stock springs > lowering springs + kyb Kyb's are a tad stiffer then stock but don't handle lowering springs well
BX77
On a smooth rode the KYB's with Epics are OK, get the Koni's, find a setting you like and you are good to go!
MidBlue06
I have started doing autoX this summer. I removed the lowering springs that a previous owner put on because they took me out of stock class. Now I am looking at doing an upgrade for the struts. I am looking at adjustable Koni yellows. Is the general consensus that these would be the best route for me?

I would expect that any adjustable Strut would be into the same class as a lowering spring.
GTEASER
I just put Koni's Yellows on my 5th Gen GT and paired them with H&R lowering springs, and the difference is significant. It went from a boaty family sedan to a capable sport sedan. The adjustablility of the Koni's allows you to match the shocks for your springs. I am at 1 full turn in front and 1/2 turn in the back. The ride is much firmer, it doesn't wallow on bumps in corners anymore, I can feel what the tires are doing while on the edge of sticktion and the suspension loads up better and I can feel the springs working better. FJuan
H-Tech and KYB here. Put on new KYBs last year and was a great upgrade over my blown OEM shocks (120k). I don't do any racing, but this set up is great for a DD. I too am looking at Epic springs in the near future for the slightly stiffer rear springs over the H-Techs, and less saggy rear end. My wife's balls are delicious.
GEE-OTTO
I went KYB GR2 + Htechs the rear driver blew within 2 months of driving I swapped them back out for stock Rear and KYB + Htech up front great stance no issues. Will be swapping all that out for Konis + Htech up front and Koni+ stock springs in rear with 1/2 shims. Yes 1/2" shims if you want any noticeable rake
