BMW M3 - Back to 6 cylinders?

Recommended Posts

Looks like a pretty clear endorsement of self tuning.

BMW never promotes doing anything yourself. The guy in the BMW M lab with teh badge ID is clear indicator of this. BMW's motto is why promote something we can charge them to do?

No kidding, I would not own a german car because the bastards make it so you have to go back there even to just clear a code. I had an X6 turbo on the lot and it ran low on gas and misfired. We could not clear the code with our SnapOn scanner, it had to go to BMW. Greedy FKS charge me 160 buks to clear the code.

I would question if that's even legal to do - there's a reason why there's a standardization on OBD-II.

First of all a BMW dealer cleared the codes. It is legal. Second who cares.... this is a subaru website with a few people who have one or both cats deleted and a open source tune removing codes. F the police ;)

I think he meant was it legal to deny access to clear codes with anything but a BMW scan tool.

I have had this happen multiple times. It is actually illegal for places like autozone and advanced auto parts to clear codes. So they could deny access to generic code readers places like that would use.
