i went with a 5k retrokit for my low/highs from here http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=254

seems the be the ideal between color and light output. it gave me quite a hassle since it was the first time i ever installed a retro kit, but im sure it'd be much easier if i ever had to do it again. just make sure you aim your lights as best you can before you put everything back together :p

and then for fogs i went with hoen endurance bulbs http://www.hoen-usa.com/fog.htm

We have a great kit for the LGT, our HID kits start at just $89.99 and we have a variety of options for the fog lights from $29.99+

Let me know if you want to learn more about HIDs and LEDs, even if you don't plan on buying from us, I can at least give you information about lighting!

Thanks,

^^^Posts like this are the reason I'm here to help.

Plenty of false information on the internet about HID lighting and dishonest companies out there to make a quick buck.

Our HID kits use a 35 watt ballast, which provides plenty of light output without generating excessive heat or annoying other drivers.

Here is a link to our HID conversion kit, we have a few customer images added: http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/led-bulbs/listed-by-vehicle/subaru-1/legacy/2003-2013-subaru-legacy-low-beam-hid-conversion-kit.html

Let me know if you still need help

I would suggest HIDs as low beams only, Highs and Fogs are more of an instant on/immediate response light and HIDs typically take a second to light up.

For Highs - HIR1 Bulbs - I have them in my car and they are exactly what you would expect super bright!!!

For Fogs - They are exactly that - Fog Lights - So the beam pattern is fairly short but wide - so if your looking to improve for normal driving vision you may be better replacing the the light itself.... Although it's worth trying more powerful H3 Bulbs first. (I suppose an HID,0 if you leave them on all the time and use highs infrequently).

I run OSRAM H7 Lows / 70W H3 Fogs / HIR1 High - I have no issues at night.

Not trying to steer you away from HIDs - just pointing out the other options for lighting needs.

I'd recommend not doing a cheap HID kit. If you're going to, then just get them from DDM. Regardless of what others here have said, these cheap kits are all pretty much the same. I'd go with the $30 HID kit (5k temp range) and I would also get the wiring harness for the extra $10.

We only sell high quality HID kits. Both of our ballast choices come backed with a lifetime warranty and should you have any issues, we will actually be there to help you and send you a replacement with a return shipping label for your convenience.

These kits are not all the same, our upgraded Hylux ballasts have a German-design and have a failure rate of less than .03%. Even our standard precision ballasts have an extremely low failure rate. I've had great success with the precision kit on my own vehicle and I strongly recommend avoiding low quality HID kits, unless you want to have tons of experience replacing them in and out, over and over again.

Why not just save yourself the headaches and purchase a good kit from us? I'll always be here to help you and you'll have the piece of mind knowing your lights won't stop working when you are driving down a dark, dangerous country road at night! lol

Either way, shoot me a PM if you just want to learn more about HID lighting. I'm here to help!

Thanks,

Nick C.

DD, I'm debating between HID kit vs retrofits. Obviously, there's the cost perspective, so what differentiates your HID kits (with Hylux ballasts) from the other plug-and-play kits out there (ie, Volt, Xtreme, DDM)?

Also, forgot to mention - bought a complete LED set for interior (dome, map, puddle, license plate, vanity) - excellent, excellent stuff.

Well,

Retrofits are going to be brighter, no surprise there. But even our standard HID conversion kit is going to give you considerably more light output than your factory halogen lighting.

And for just $89.99 you get our fantastic customer support, a lifetime warranty on the ballasts, and a high-quality HID kit that won't fail and leave you blind in the dark like some other kits on the market.

We only sell high quality kits and they have extremely low failure rates, plus, if you have any issues, I'll be here to help and make sure you are taken care of.

The Hylux ballast has a failure rate less than .02% and we've only received 1 back since I've worked here and I'm fairly certain the installer used a hammer or something! lol

Also, the Hylux have an aluminum style housing and use the latest HID technology.

Let me know if you need more information about our HID kits. I have our standard, precision ballast installed on my own vehicle so believe me when I say we only sell quality products!

Thanks,

Nick C.

for lights, its recommended to go all the way or go home. youll need HID projectors + clear lenses, aka a complete retrofit to go along with the setup. dont just stick HID bulbs into the stock halogen projectors. i originally thought hey why dont i just buy a morimoto HID kit and stick those HID bulbs into my stock lights? well lights look real messy with messy light spill without the proper projectors and shields and even stock halogens can be brighter than HIDs if HIDs arent done properly. im having a well known guy over at the hidplanet forums do mine
