Do you hate the "Love"?

and any rumors on when they are going to stop that advertising campaign? I can't stand the "Love" commercials. Just too drippy and sappy.

 

When are they coming out with a new marketing program?

If it sells cars then more money for Subaru

If more money for Subaru, more likely to take chances

More likely to take chances, more likely to introduce more enthusiasts cars

 

That said, they are pretty sappy and could use some more humor.

It plays on the loyalty that the customers have for the brand.

 

Like the female couple who is on their 2nd 3rd or 4th Forester, and will likely have their adopted Vietnamese daughter grow up and own one eventually.

 

Or the kid who had an old Loyale or Legacy in college and wants another because it got him home safely from the frat house when he was baked out of his mind.

Do the ads sell cars? Or does the product ratings and mainstream styling sell more cars? I don't think Subaru's success is a function of the "Love" marketing campaign.

 

Saab always had a glitzy high powered marketing campaign. It didn't work for them. They even came out with innovative products, had an exhibition traveling driving team and used their aero heritage.

Saab was much more of a niche brand than Subaru ever was.

 

Subaru doesn't need to make million dollar TV campaigns for their sporty cars like the WRX or STi because they have a strong following with those models already, and let print media and performance reviews do the talking.

 

The rather spend their TV dollars on the Forester and Outback because they need to keep their market share strong in those categories and they are their volume movers, so the cost of big-media advertising is amortized over a larger volume of sale.

 

They do have a great TV ad for the BRZ touting it's blast-to-drive sporting nature, but that's understandable because it's a brand new model that needs to be advertised in the largest way.

Saab is an extreme example showing marketing doesn't create sales. I think soccer moms are going to buy Foresters even without the "love" commercials. Do you think Subaru will offend Soccer Moms, glbt and other target markets using a more macho advertising campaign? Lol :lol:

 

Guess the "honeymoon" is over for me and I'm tired of the "Love". Still love my Subaru, just not the corny ads. Of course Subaru has been known for great ads.

No doubt Australia, Europe and other markets have better commercials. :) Australia markets to young, active consumers. They get some hip artists to create the sound tracks too.

Best commercial Subaru has right now was produced by an oil company. It has a sti spinning around a tree.
