lisaquinn530
My 93 Subaru legacy makes a loud whining noise when I let off of the gas pedal. Does anyone have a clue to why? Lisa
Stang70Fastback
Are you sure it's not just typical drive-train whine from an older vehicle? You're much more likely to hear it while coasting. EDIT: Also, you've provided about as little information as possible for us to help you in your diagnoses. There are 100 different things that can whine in a car. You need to at least attempt to describe more precisely what it sounds like, where in the car it appears to be coming from, and any other details that could help us narrow down the field... lisaquinn530
I believe it is coming from the transmission or differentials. It is definitely coming from the drive train. It is definitely not a heat shield rattling and it is not coming from the motor.
Stang70Fastback
Yeah, I'm willing to bet it's just typical older-car drive-train noise. Especially if it's a high-pitched wine. You can always check your trans and diff fluids just to be safe though.
