  1. My 2006 2.0r petrol estate manual, timing belt snapped yesterday so engine is blown. Ive found a 2007 manual 2.0r saloon for sale at a reasonable price and am considering swapping the engine out of the saloon into my estate. Is there anything I should be aware of ? are there any electronics that need switching over as well or vice versa ?
  2. HI my 2006 2.0r is grinding in reverse. I stop, let the gears wind down, put it into reverse smoothly, the gears engage fine, then just as the reverse motion starts theres a loudish grind coming from somewhere in the transmission area (could be the prop shaft but not sure) It doesnt grind when properly moving in reverse, its just the initial couple of feet as it starts to move. I know transmissions and its not the engagement of the gears that may be spinning when you engage reverse or the whine of straight cut reverse. My guess is the prop shaft CV joint but im not sure. Normal forward motion is fine. but when you switch back from reverse to forward theres an initial grind. IM guess the cv joint is worn and when you move forward the cv joint settles into the position its normal forward groove, then when you put it in reverse it grinds out of the normal worn in forward position into the reverse position and vice versa. Any idea because im no expert on subarus.
