  1. Didn't realize there was a convex option.... Been installing convex on my other vehicles and it's the best mod you instantly forget about. I'll need a couple of these please.
  2. Little known fact... You can install the USDM armrest extension on top of the JDM extension. This will impact the size of cup you can place in the rear cupholder thou, especially with the USDM extension "deployed".
  3. I'll take the shifter bushings and saggy butt spacers if still available. Will PM...
  4. Curious to know if anyone learned a good workaround for VDC. I like the idea of this swap but would like to avoid another permanent dash light. Since this is only a documented issue for OB owners going to the STI rack, wondering if OB owners could step halfway to the LGT rack and not have the VDC issue.
  5. Here is the rebate link. Looks like the 5 gallon pail is now good for a $40 rebate! https://rotella.shell.com/en_us/promos-loyalty-rewards/coupons-rebates-and-sweepstakes/save-with-a-rebate.html Edit: Napa is no longer a participating retailer. Check the retailer list on the above list if you want the rebate...
  6. I was using amsoil 10-40 XL in my OBXT for the past year. Started with 5-30 XL but switched due to "extreme" heat down here in south Texas. 10-40 did make the valvetrain much quieter, but I still change at ~3500mi because I notice the valvetrain noise starts to ramp up again when the viscosity starts the break down. The 10-40 still comes out like water, even from a cold engine. Doing more city driving than I used to so don't think I'll push much past 3500 per change. Only 2k into my first fill with the T6 so we'll see when the noise starts to come around again.
  7. Quality build! Will have to keep an eye on this one. I haven't installed my coilovers yet but it's getting closer on the list... Was planning to try to minimize the drop but this makes me think twice about not lowering.
  8. With the ceramic coat I have enjoyed just rinsing the car off after on and off road driving. Just high pressure water then microfiber towels to dry. Nothing else needed. Never thought about how well it would prevent paint or other man made contaminants from taking hold. Good to know!
  9. Well, to add more of my experience to this, I replaced my problematic head unit with a properly functioning OEM and now the rest of the stereo sounds a bit better, except the sub which is rattling again. It sounds terribly muddy so I'm replacing it. Several past threads mention an improvement with Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 which is no longer available (don't believe vivid racing, tried it and got refunded). I searched for a couple days to find another shallow mount 2 ohm 8" sub and didn't have much luck. I finally stumbled on a lightly used TS-SW2002D2 for a fair price so I'm taking a chance on it. Should have it next week.
  10. My 09 OBXT also had a sub rattle when I got it last year. Pulled the sub expecting to see it blown and found it in perfect working order. I ended up stuffing some fiber-fill material in the cavity and added a non-drying putty (kinda like sticky-tack) in between the speaker mounting tabs and it's mount location in the car to help isolate it from the sheet metal. The rattle went away. Sub still sounds a bit more muddy than I like but still an improvement over how it was.
  11. I've had this happen to me with old OEM and not so old aftermarket radiator caps in several previous vehicles. Disclaimer: this is my first Subaru and I haven't had this happen to it yet. Without the internal parts the cap will leak some. You may smell evaporated coolant but never see a drip. My last acura ate the internals of 2 or 3 radiator caps (during my ownership). I never recovered all the parts of any of the caps. I figure the parts are too large to ever escape the narrow spaces inside a radiator core, and there is enough space around wherever the parts lodge for coolant to still flow around. That acura radiator kept going with all those cap parts in it and finally started leaking at a crimp point at ~235K. I believe it was the original, and over 15 years old. So... recover what parts you can, replace the caps, don't panic unless the vehicle continues to overheat after you've topped off and burped the coolant system.
  12. Ok I'm sold. I haven't even looked or asked about the price of my future e-tune but I don't care. I've got a little more part hunting and wrenching to do, but.... Mike, I will definitely be in touch soon. Looking forward to it already!
  13. I second DD Performance Research in Sealy, Tx. I can't vouch for their Subaru knowledge firsthand but I've spoken with Dave numerous times regarding my MR2. Best MR2 tuners in the country who will custom build and tune whatever you want. If Dave is willing to tune Subarus as well, he has my full faith.
