  1. Thank you all for your suggestions. Are there any other Starlink Plus features that don't work on a '19 Legacy (a la the remote starter)?
  2. Thank you. I hadn't thought of it that way (some of the other posters in past threads referred to it as buggy and didn't appreciate how it worked). I actually like the concept and will go for the Subaru OEM version instead. How much does Subaru roughly charge for parts & installation of this OEM module? Will this Subaru OEM part allow it to work with Starlink Plus? Will there be a different key fob or same one?
  3. Thank you. Would I be correct if I were to purchase the following (and have a local car alarm place do the work)? Fortin EVO-ONE-SUB1 Remote Starter and Alarm Bypass Module CrimeStopper TELE-CONNECT (wouldn't this be duplicative to the stock Remote Car Locator feature as part of Starlink Plus, or is the stock feature also not available in a '19 Legacy Limited?)
  4. Isn't that the one people on this forum complain is buggy (like it shuts off the entire car when you open your car), and recommend aftermarket instead?
  5. My wife and I bought a CPO 2019 Subaru Legacy 2.5 Limited. We also subscribed to the Starlink Plus package, which supposedly includes features like the Remote Door Lock/Unlock, Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Remote Vehicle Locator, and Remote Car Starter. It turns out the Remote Car Starter isn't available until the 2020 Model Year. 1. What's a good aftermarket module? I've come across some recommendations in favor of the Fortin Evo One with Drone Mobile service. Would that combination disrupt any of the Starlink+ stuff (like the car alarm)? 2. Should I cancel the Starlink Plus package? We like the idea of having the Automatic Collision Detection, SOS and Remote Vehicle Locator features, but the misleading Remote Start aspect has been a major turnoff. Our Subaru salesperson was not really technologically savvy...... Thanks in advance!
  6. My wife's 2019 Legacy Limited (225/50R18) still has the Goodyear stock tires, which from what I understand, are very poor in snow. We're in New England so this is a concern. In searching through TireRack, Town Fair Tire, and other sites, it seems like the "Michelin Cross Climate SUV" is compatible. The tire specs measure at 225/50R18XL (note the XL). Is that accurate that SUV XL tires are compatible? Are there any downsides? More importantly, what other tires would you recommend? We value both road noise/comfort as well as safety in dry, wet, and snow. She doesn't really need sporty or performance oriented. The Bridgestone Turanza Quettrack gets high ratings on TireRack but it's Out of Stock everywhere (and has been for quite some time). It gets ridiculously good scores for ride noise, comfort, and traction in all conditions. The Vredstein Quatrac Pro is the 3rd highest consumer rated grand touring tire on TireRack, but it's also Out of Stock until January. This has the 3 peaks on it. I hear people rave about Michelin's Cross Climate 2, but that doesn't seem available. Only the Cross Climate "SUV" is available. This also has the 3 peaks on it, but is rated to be the least effective with road noise and comfort compared to the other two. Thanks in advance!
  7. Wife and I are new owners of a '19 Subaru Legacy Limited with the adaptive headlights (where it turns in the direction that you turn the wheel). We love it except the headlights feel like they're aimed too low. The cutoff is especially dangerous when the car is going downhill (so a lot of the uphill is completely dark without the use of high beams). We'd like to tweak it so that it aims a tad higher without blinding oncoming traffic. Does anyone have any instructions or YouTube views they could share? I tried searching but didn't find much. Thank you in advance!
  8. I'm highly impressed by how crisp the 2018 and 2019 Legacy 8" infotainment screen's display. It's bright, crisp, and high contrast. What's the screen display's resolution? Does anyone have any tech-nerd specs like resolution, contrast ratio, etc. Tried a Google search but the best description I could find was "high resolution display."
  9. As the title states, we're thinking of buying a '19 2.5 Limited which has 18" wheels. Are we correct to look for locks with M12x1.25 thread? We live in a neighborhood that has had instances of stolen wheels, and would prefer getting Gorilla wheel locks (where all 5 lug nuts on each wheel is locked) increasing theft deterrence.
  10. Wife and I are looking at a CPO '19 Legacy Limited with <10k miles. Hit up a few local dealers and here is a quote we received. Initial Quote Internet Sticker: $24,983 New Selling Price: $24,483 (they knocked off $500 as part of these initial negotiations) Rebate: $0 Nitrogen Service: $0 (they knocked off $99 for this at our request) VIN etching: $0 (they knocked off $299 for this at our request) Taxes: $1,168 Registration: $240 Doc: $598 Final Price: $26,939 Questions Is asking for an additional $1,000 off too aggressive? What other wiggle room do we have for negotiation leverage? Is $600 for documents fee high? It seems so based on others' opinions and that $500 should be the cutoff. Should we discuss trade-in value for our existing car BEFORE or AFTER we talk about this CPO car's price? We plan to do $5k-$7k downpayment and already secured bank financing at an excellent rate (though without a credit check, they claim Subaru's Chase Bank can secure a better APR). Any thoughts, advice, or watchouts are most appreciated!
  11. My wife and I are definitely ones who keep cars for many years. Her current car is a base 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS sitting at 160k miles that we've had since 2013 (7 years). It just died'ish (likely alternator) and instead of dropping $500-$700, we figure its time to get her a newer, safer upgrade in a '19 Legacy Limited. Question: Is the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty a Subaru-wide offering, or is it a dealer-specific thing (where only they'll service it)? The former is preferable of course and we'll absolutely ask for the Terms & Conditions as we get to that point of the sale.
  12. New to these forums. Wife and I are looking to buy a CPO from a local Subaru dealership. Their ad says we can pick between Subaru Certified or a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty. What should we choose? It seems the former still offers a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty along a bunch of other items including: * Inspection (IMO, the car is already inspected in order to get certified) * 24/7 roadside assistance (we have AAA but this is a decent perk) * $500 Owner Loyalty Coupon (not sure what it provides?) * Carfax report (is this more detailed than the report available on the dealer's listing?) * 3 month trial to SiriusXM (no use for it) * 1 free year of STARLINK (nice $150 perk) Thanks in advance!
