  1. For sale is what is pictured. Came off my 05 legacy gt. The transmission works great, no problems 139000 miles. Comes with the IPT valve body upgrade that has 6000 miles on it. The automatic shifter has a new shifting cable. There are 4 rear axles pictured, 2 of those are from a legacy gt spec b and stay with me. Also comes with the automatic gauge cluster axle and a mess of wires from an 05 legacy 5mt. Also comes with the tcu and ecu. You also get the pedal assembly with 2 center consols pieces. There is a starter showing, but i'm not sure if it works.

$600 local pickup and I am willing to ship but the buyer pays for shipping.

Pretty much. Definitely a little dissapointed with the gains, I was hoping around 390 to 400 hp with at least 360+ for torque. I don't regret doing it though, I love my wagon and projects are fun, but for what I spent on this car (rebuilding the motor cost $10000 and I paid $8500 for the car. Although the previous owner had spent $11000 on upgrades himself from which I've added up through his receipts. Everything from hoses and lines under the hood, to all new hub assemblies, dust shields, downpipe, exhaust, AVO top mount, uppipe and crossover pipe. With the exhaust, downpipe, upipe, crossover pipe, and top mount the car was at 205/190 hp on a stock turbo. For myself of what i've done to the car i'm in for around $28 to $30000 not including the cost of the car. I redid the top mount and changed the turbo twice, vf52 to the blouch 1.5xtr. But with the know how, someone could at least save themselves a few thousand dollars doing the swap on their own. Plus I spent about an extra $1500 on all the tuning opposed to if I had done this all at one time.

  4. Nice, I Just picked up my 05 gt wagon last week after having the 6 speed swap done. I paid $3800 for the complete swap through ebay. Total cost for everything was around $11000 with having a shop do it. There were issues along the way. I needed the guage cluster, ecu, bcu and some other wiring from a 5sp manual. A new key because the old one couldn't be reprogrammed. They had to fabricate a cross member for the transmission. I picked up a new clutch fork, pilot and throwout bearing new from subaru for a spec b. Also a new slave line and master cylinder form an 05-09 legacy gt. I went with the xtss hd clutch by act. There was also an issue with the windows not working but they brought it to subaru to and fixed it relatively easy. The only issue now so far is that my cruise control doesn't work. I went from 342/325 5eat to 371/342 6speed.
  5. Which one of complete set 5EAT transmission upgrade shall I choose between:

    A) IPT 5EAT Upgraded Performance Transmission

    B) Level 10 Bullet Proof Transmission (built from scratch)

Choose a 6 speed swap. I went with the ipt valve body upgrade which helps a little but it cost $600. Plus I had to replace the shifter cable, then a solenoid in the shifter unit failed and was locking the shifter. All in all I spent a about 800. I just bought a full 6 speed swap from ebay, act clutch and a pedal assembly. I feel for a couple thousand more is worth it. I only regret not buying it in the first place.

  6. I did a rebuild with the Sti Ra shortblock on my 5eat last year. I went with the Sti oil pan and killer b ultimate oil pick. I also originally went with the vf52 and AVO top mount, but was very dissapointed with it. Maybe it's better with a 5 speed but it just felt like it was struggling to do anything. I was making 297hp/305tq but after 3rd gear it felt like there was nothing. I just upgraded to the blouch 1.5xtr with the Grimmspeed Tmic and boy what a difference. It hits boost and hold and just excellerates through all the gears and keeps pulling. That took me to 347hp/325tq. I did start to get a little slipping so I did the valve body upgrade (ipt) and that took care of the problem. But I just bought the full spec b six speed swap and am having a shop put that in this September.

    Current Build

Sti Ra short block, Blouch 1.5xtr, Grimmspeed Tmic, Cobb Catted DP, Borla Catback, Tomei UL Headers, Tomei Uppipe, 850cc injectors, AEM Fuel Pump 340LPH, Cobb intake, Cobb Boost Controller, Mishimoto Radiator, Sti oil pan, Sti cam gears, Killer b ultimate oil pickup.

Very excited to see how much more HP/TQ i'll make with the 6 speed.

  7. Glad I found this thread and happy to hear everything is working well. I just bought a full spec b 6mt for my 05 wagon and am having a shop install it this September. Curious about of things though. I definitely want my cruise control to work, and what about the pedal box, trying to figure out what will work, any suggestions, Also should I upgrade the throw out bearing, clutch fork, and flywheel?
  8. Not sure why but I don't seem to be able to post this in the classifieds.

I have a vf52 from my 05 legacy gt wagon that was purchased and installed by kinetic motor works last year. I do have the receipt. It was a 20g rebuild. I also have an AVO top mount to go with it. I just bought a 1.5xtr and grimmspeed top mount. It would have been nice to be able to reuse the top mount but I couldn't. I'm making 297 whp with lots of other mods on a 5eat. They said with a manual trans would with my setup would get me around 325-330 whp. I'm hoping the 1.5xtr will get me to that point. I paid $650 for the turbo and about $630 for the AVO. I would let both go for $650 to which I can deliver withing a 50 mile radius or $700 shipped. jaylee9112@yahoo.com

10,000 miles on the vf52 and 30,000 miles on the AVO top mount

  10. Jrae2424, he didn't say it would be choked out up top, he said it wasn't ideal or recommended. He said there will be power left on the table without using a FMIC.

That being said, there are plenty of cars over 400 and even 500hp with the GS tmic, E85 is one hell of a drug! (Charlie Murphy)

If I didn't want sleeper status, I would definitely have a FMIC, have had them on all of my turbo cars. (Go ahead and take a rock or a piece of metal to the FMIC and see how that hurts the wallet!) Been there and done that almost 50 times at this point (no, the wife is NOT happy about this number and never will be )

The only way to prove anything would be to have logs, I will have a hybrid SD setup as well. We need another legacy owner with similar setup except FMIC that has an IAT before the throttle body to make a comparison.

That being said, the auto trans you have right now might not live to see the difference. Good luck brother!

Never thought that would be a problem with fronts, I assumed they were pretty strong, but yeah, that would suck. I know the feeling though about the wife not being happy with numbers. $9200 for the engine rebuild, that was after spending $8500 on the car plus about $4000 on other mods before that and now another $3300, but whatever, its a hobby, that’s my reasoning. Let’s pray to the old gods and the new that the transmission holds up. But then again it could be a good excuse to get a level 10 trans rebuild.

  11. That Process West is for a STI.

You need the GS tmic for a Legacy GT. It is the best fitting and easiest to install and work with. Both my cars have one.

Sweet. I'll think I'll put the order in today.

Am that pretty cool to see that you still have the wagon after 8 years, how many miles at this point, and how is it running? I would love to come down and check them out sometime, or if you have a link to some pics, send them my way.

  12. I see a complete kit for $970, would this process west work?

And I'm still confused as to why exactly the AVO top mount I have won't work with the 1.5 xtr?

Also, someone recommened going with the blouch 380xt which would illiminate the need to upgrade the top mount? I'm trying to get to 340-350 whp with the 5eat. I have 850cc injectors, exhaust, fuel pump, intake, headers, boost controller, downpipe, upipe. so there shouldn't much more to do other than a proper turbo.
