  1. So basically I’ve had my 2007 legacy gt for about a year and a half, had the original ej255 in it, unfortunately that blew back in January so I swapped in a ej20y, 6 months later on my birthday while driving my oil pressure light flashed then I hear a small grinding noise then my car automatically shut itself off, I pulled over and saw a bunch of coolant on the ground as well as all over my engine bay but no oil. When I got it home I filled the fluids and cranked it for about 5 seconds but heard no knock or anything out of the ordinary but when I stopped cranking a really loud backfire happened kinda like if coolant was being ignited as well so it made a really loud bang but never started. Fast forward to today I drained the oil and coolant came out first quite a fair amount, followed by oil, I took a magnet to see any metal shavings in the oil which there was none. But I’m not too sure if it’s head gaskets or not, isn’t there usually oil in the coolant if the head gaskets are blown? Just trying to figure out if it’s worth fixing or if I should just cut my losses and part it out. Any advice would be greatly appreciate before I pull the whole engine and try and see what the problem is. Thank you
  2. Sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead, and if there’s a thread explaining my inquiry I’m sorry for asking again. So basically I went to the junk yard and found good struts from 2009+ wrx hatchback, I grabbed them to use on my 07 legacy gt I haven’t tried putting them on because I don’t want to drill holes if it doesn’t fit, so my question would be, will these struts from an 09 wrx hood fit on the legacy gt? Or are the dimensions different, will it close all the way? (The hood struts not the struts that lift the hatch) Thanks
  3. Thank you they are both 5speed manual i looked at the forester today and its the ej255 ab440 now i have the 07 legacy gt which is a ej255 ab630 would that be compatible? and if so what would you have to do too make it compatible?
  4. So a few days ago I blew a rod on my 2007 legacy gt, it was only a matter of time. this is my daily driver so I’ve been trying to find a direct drop in because I just don’t got the funds and time to do a full rebuild and swap etc etc... So this 2005 forester xt has popped up and he’s willing to give me the full car for a good price because he needs it out of his shop... Now my question is, will a 2005 forester xt engine drop straight into my 2007 legacy gt? I’ve been trying to look for an answer and I’m getting mixed ones, it’s mostly because I’m not sure if the 05 xt would be a direct swap for the 07 legacy, I’m pretty sure it’s the same as the 06 legacy gt, but Through my research I couldn’t find a direct answer. I just don’t want to buy the car and realize there’s multiple modifications I have to do to get it back on the road. Sorry if there’s a post about this already but I’ve been trying to research and couldn’t find a direct answer for my situation
  5. So update on my problem I pulled the cylinder 3 fuel injector and it’s cracked I’m guessing that’s the problem guess it’s time to upgrade
  6. Thanks for the suggestions, i went out yesterday to remove the fuel injectors unfortunately i don't have a garage and it started to rain but when i got to the fuel rail, the cylinder 3 fuel injector had no bracket holding it down with the screw so once it stops raining and i'm able to take a better look that might be the cause, and maybe that's the reason it misfires then doesn't. ill keep this updated thanks again
  7. Thanks for the reply, I have swapped over the plugs and its still saying cylinder 3, I did a compression test on cylinder 3 today and came back at between 140-150 I have yet to swap the fuel injectors yet, it started raining so I ran out of time. I’ll do the injectors tomorrow and use a Borescope as well
  8. Hey all, I have been searching a little to try and find an answer to my problem but i haven't been able to find anything that correlates to my problem, if there is a thread i'm sorry and please link me to it thank you. Basically whats happened is my turbo on my 2007 legacy gt blew vf46 was in there, and i recently swapped to a vf52 for a little more kick, i have been working with tuning alliance and having them tune my car which they are fantastic and i'm happy these forums have recommended them. anyways, i have a Catless DP, to stock exhaust midpipe, then a muffler delete. now currently my car is misfiring on cylinder 3, okay not a problem ill check it out, i did recently change the spark plugs before my tune so i cancelled out the spark plugs, i swapped over the coil packs to see if its that but its still in cylinder 3. NOW whats weird and confusing about my misfire is that, sometimes when i cold start the car wont misfire, but then while its warming up it'll start misfiring. but it doesn't stop there my car will continue to jump from misfiring to not misfiring to misfiring again, and i have not reset the ecu or anything between the times of misfire/not misfiring, and it will be completely random occurrence. Also when it misfires my Cobb AP2 will read cylinder 3 roughness and hits 0/99, which is very high. i have no idea what to do, I am going to do a compression test as well as swap over the fuel injectors to see if thats the problem due to the fact that i smell gasoline when idling. another thing to note is 2 days before i started misfiring i threw a P0440 code, i cleared the code and has yet to come back on. but now i misfire.... Any help would be appreciated even if its a link to another thread for this problem thanks a lot.
