Does anyone know where do I find out which radios are compatible with my car? The model of radio I have now is 86431AL65A. but the cheapest I see online is $1100 which Im not willing to spent on this car anymore. I found 8643AL60A which looks the same. I dont care about anything as long as it has ApplePlay.

I had few minutes today and i actually looked at it. And its not condensation. Looks like LCD screen is de-laminating. At this point radio is unusable. Glitches too much

So this just happened to my head unit. I googled it and it seems it happens on Subaru Outbacks too. We just had a heatwave so i think its related but who knows. Somebody on their forum suggested there was a recall for 2018 head units but I cant see anything when i input my VIN number. Any ideas? Car is obviously not on warranty anymore (2018). This on top of my rattle issue makes me start to hate this car as much as I used to love it.

After I came back from the dealership all was good for about two weeks but now it came back. It seems to do it only when I'm breaking though. But the sound is the same. I have to go there again, hopefully it just needs an adjustment

See TSB 04-17-17R. Replacing the rack's tension spring is something that a lot of people have done themselves; it's cheap and relatively easy. It does require a special tool, though.
Thank you
In case this comes up in your search, dealership quoted me $890.

I dont have a lift but Im thinking its rack and pinion. Going on saturday to the dealer to have them check it. Any idea how much it will cost?

@gathermewool Im not a mechanic, but you could always add distilled water to your battery.

How many years do you guy's get out of the Optima's ?
Mine lasted 5 years, but I would never buy another. There is simply no reason they cost so much compared to what you get from normal battery. But I would highly recommend Costco. Warranty is better than Walmarts

Well it wasnt as bad as I thought it will be although what took the longest was installing actual remote unit and existing relay bracket on top of it. There is like no room there whatsoever. If it wasnt for all that I think whole install job would take probably around one hour. I also had help from my buddy. Now tomorrow off to dealership Hopefully they can do it without appointment. I really wish I could rent that diagnostic tool
EDIT
Dealer charged me $66. So altogether everything was $356, parts and reprogram.

Careful! Make sure you have the correct installation instructions for your Outback's model year and the particular remote start version you have; there are several. You can download installation instructions free from STIS.
I have turn key 2018 legacy and my remote starter part ends with 02 so I believe I have everything correct. Those instructions are a little vague around the part where you connect harness to ignition but i suspect they will make more sense when I am looking at actual thing. I dont suppose there is any walkthrough out there?

MSRP on the remote start kit itself (part number H001SAL102 for 2019 Legacy/Outback with push button start) is $370. I don't know how much your dealer would charge for installation. Since your salesman told you your Outback already included remote start, they might be willing to install it for free. Call and ask.
If you're an experienced gearhead, it is possible to install the remote start kit yourself, but you'll still have to pay a dealer to register it with the onboard anti-theft system. See: https://techinfo.subaru.com/stis/doc/accInstallGuide/H001SAL102%20Push%20Start%20RES%20Install%20Ins%204280842%20Rev%20-%20ENG_FRN%203-23-18.pdf
No.
There are two separate "long range" fobs included in the kit. You may (or may not) be able to use your standard fob at short range.
Thanks for those instructions. I'm going to install Remote engine start tomorrow after work and this will help me a lot.

To be fair to Fram filters gathered such bad reputation because of loose seals. People would unscrew old filter and not notice seal stayed on and screw new filter on it. You ended up with two and you would get oil leaks or worse. Since than they changed materials so its no longer a problem. Also since filters are now on top of engine it would be fairly easy to see seal if it separated.
As to answer OP, I always get Mobil1 oil, 0W20. Subaru filters from ebay, blue ones. if you buy 6-12 its the same price as getting non Subaru ones at Walmart or other stores.

Did you connect your infotainment system to wi-fi? I did that and then I started to getting messages about software updates failing. Once I realized the wi-fi feature didn't do anything (and probably never will), I just turned the w-fi connection back off.
That did it. Thank you

How do I get rid of this message? I think it started showing up last week. Every time I start the engine there it is, telling me software update failed to download. Annoying.

Aren't all windshield wipers pretty much all the same? Since like late 90s? They all come with adapters but I am on my 6th car 3 of which were Subarus and never had to used them. Every time you raise the blade, turn it 45 degrees and pull it off. Sometimes its easy and sometimes its not. And when you put them back on you have to make sure you hear audible click when it snaps on (I lost blade in my Celica because I did not secure it properly, still feel pretty stupid about it)

Legacy eat snow....I have 2 of them and I have never gotten stuck even with close to 2 ft on the ground
This has been my experience as well. I drove two Imprezas ('12 and '15) and the only time I was stuck is when there was so much snow that car just couldn't push it anymore. I wonder if 2.5L engine might be a bit better. This year I only commute 2 miles in city so I am not getting winter tires. We will see how Legacy will perform on stock tires

My car has rebuilt title so dealer and Subaru refused to do anything. I was able to source a pristine unit off ebay and sell mine (as broken) so I'm out only $100. I replaced it myself, no reprogramming needed.
Not sure if it was smart to replace it with same exact unit as I dont have any confidence it wont happened again. I just need to figure out how to update the firmware because so far it fails every time
