i have oil in the same place
-
i cant find any info the R180 being a direct fit.
which year and model sti rear axles are needed?
thanks
-
he has its a torsen lsd
-
look up val racing on facebook
then search r160
there is some info here, they seem to be a reseller
-
i went for val racing lsd
-
what LSD are available for the jdm BR9 R160 rear diff and front diff?
i see there is the torque locker but i think a progressive lsd would be better
i see some are using suretrac is it as simple as buying one from any used subaru diff and fitting it into the br9 housing?
thanks

ive found the answer they have different part number
br9 looks like a single piston, i could be wrong.
impreza has 2 pistons
part number 26401AG050

hello
does anyone know if the br9 shares the same brake master at the impreza wrx sti that has black brembos?
reason i ask is i have fitted lexus 430 4pot calipers they are huge put still uses a 43mm piston and black rear brembos, i now seem to have a lot more brake pedal travel and a lot more modulation .so i have to use more pedal for the same braking feel, if that makes sense.
i also have ss lines. there not spongy but do feel a bit soft.there is no air trapped as i bleed the brake about 4 times. Then got my local garage to do it just to make sure
so i wonder if the wrx sti has a bigger brake master and will it be a direct fit to the br9?
gen 5 part number is 26401AJ010
thanks

Whaaaa? I didn't know that. That is interesting!
seems nobody know's about the lexus calipers outside of Russia, over there they use it on most subaru's
-
very interesting. when you're saying the black brembos, you're talking to STI rears? or the lexus rears as well
yes impreza black Brembo calipers on the rear
-
yes lexus ls 430 4pots are a cheap upgrade and offers 13% increase in brake torque vs stock LGT calipers, very popular in russia
it uses the standard br9 316mm disc.12mm spacers /longer studs are needed to fit the br9 alloys this makes them flush with the body work and looks great
adapters cost about £130.
i don't recommend just upgrading the fronts tho as it gives the br9 a rubbish brake pedal feel and i believe it pushed the biased to the rear.
pm me if anyone whats the adapters made.
only disadvantage is there is no weight saving as the lexus calipers are massive.
lexus used calipers are £100 ish ,only mod needed to to remove the caliper locating pins.
looks oem to
-
there is also the cheap option of lexus ls430 4pot calipers .it uses the same oem front disc
-
ive just fitted the black rear brembos and use the oem lines. if the hose is fitted to the caliper and the pipe is slack then it will rub on the driveshaft,if you hold the line up when connecting the banjo bolt there is enough tension to keep the hose there on its own
-
I don't think that bend really matters, test fit them first.
if you upgrade to brembos you will need that rear sti hose
-
aren't the goodrich braided lines made in the UK? You should be able to get a set of those
gen 5 isn't listed on there uk website
-
thanks ive measured the rear and getting a pair made up
-
any particular reason you can't get some shipped in from overseas? can't imagine it'd be any cheaper to buy 2 sets of lines to cobble together one set than it would be to buy a specific set and pay the shipping, and then you'd know you have a set that works.
in the uk you can buy just the fronts or just the rears, so I would buy bpe fronts as I know there the same, I just need to know if the impreza rear is the same.
thanks
-
hello
in the uk no one makes a braided brake hose kit for the mk5 br9. I know the front brake hoses are the same as on the mk4 bpe but the rear is different, does any one know if the rear brake hose from the impreza wrx sti hatchback is the same as the br9? as we can use the rear black Brembo as an upgrade I'm huess the hoses are the same and in the same location? ie the hose comes straight down out of the wheel arch
also looks like there is 4 hoses to change not 6 like on the bpe
thanks

thread resurrection
where can I can get the wildwood caliper to hub adapters without the crazy price tag?
-
my 2010 jdm br9 rear sway bar is 18mm from the factory
I thought I had brought a 20mm sti bar. turns out to be 19mm.
looks like im going to need a 22mm whiteline bar
-
so what is the grease nipple right under the intercooler ontop of the gearbox?
thanks
-
Lubed the starter and clutch fork pivot. This is the second time I have done this in a year. At least they are somewhat easy to get to except for the bottom bolt on the starter. My inspection camera really helped on that one.

am I right in thinking the fork pivot has its own grease nipple?
would greasing it up make the clutch pedal easier or lighter to push in?
thanks

I just did this install yesterday. There are no instructions for our car specifically on their website.
This one is close
The primary difference is the solenoid itself is separate from the adapter plate. You have to mount it somewhere under the hood. I used the hole on the lower tie bar where the peg on the passenger side of the radiator sits.
Port 1 goes to the intake port
Port 2 goes to the wastegate
Port 3 goes to the turbo port
You will need 2 hose adapters to go from the smaller hose of the wastegate and turbo to the hose that comes with the unit. If your hoses are old and hard, get a foot of the small hose. I believe its 4mm ID to 6mm ID. I brought the hoses with me to Autozone to fit the adapters
please could you post some pictures?
