`NOTE With the valet mode selected, the security system does not operate and the parking lights do not flash when the remote transmitter is used for locking and unlocking. The security system indicator light in the combination meter flashes twice per second to show that the valet mode is selected. For details, refer to “Valet mode” in this section.`

`To exit valet mode, open the driver’s door and keep the “UNLOCK/ DISARM” button pressed for more than two seconds. The indicator will stop flashing.`

My security light flashes even when the ignition is on/car is in gear. Alarm works, the problem is the light. Do I need to replace the fuse? Is the alarm going bad?

Short term, if you just want it to stop and will track and fix later, I would use a longish #2 phillip's and take that bottom trim off the column and unplug the connector for that light. There should be four screws holding that trim inside fairly deep holes on the bottom of the column.

What type of bulb do I use for an replacement?

It could be killing the battery. Are there any other lights staying on like the door step lights, door anti collision lights, overhead lights, etc?

No. That's the only light that stays on

Is there any way I can turn the Ignition switch light off? It stays on for some reason and I think its killing the battery. It there an on/off switch somewhere?

what you see is what you get.

 

aftermarket gauges are an option a lot of people go for, especially with oil pressure. lots of space for aftermarket gauges in the dash below the stereo.

 

when they design a car they have a limited amount of dash space, but also they don't want to distract the average driver so a lot of thought goes into which instruments you get

 

how can you tell if your car is charging? same as any other car without a volt meter - throw a multimeter on the battery, 12.xx volts not running, 13.xx volts running. the battery light will definitely tell you it's not charging but it likely wont come on until your battery is dying as a result.

 

oil pressure? if you have concerns, check/borrow/rent a mechanical oil pressure gauge. the stock warning light definitely wont come on until the situation is critical

Other than the oil light is it some kind of way I can see the oil pressure?

Also how can I see if the battery is charging? There's no gauge, only the battery light.

I recently purchased a 2002 Legacy. It must have been in an accident and the previous owners replace the trunk with an Outback trunk. The trunk fits but I cannot connect the trunk to the car’s wiring. Is there some sort of adapter I can use? What’s the name of it and the price?
