  1. Here are the pics of the final results:

Also anybody got a suggestion on how to fill in a small gap? The body shop is worried if they tight the bracket or try to fix it it might snap. I let one of my friends drive the car and he damaged the front lip. That’s why it needed to be repainted and repaired.

Where did you get your grill?

  2. Had to complement my new STI wheels with Rally Armor UR mud flaps! Got these in Silver, but they look more like a gray. Still excited about them though! Found 4 years of dirt and rocks in my rear bumper during installation through

How tough was the install? Thinking about doing it myself vs shop. Don’t have specialty tools for it just basics.

  3. What did I do to my 19 Legacy 3.6 today?

I said good-bye and accepted the settlement offer from USAA from it getting totaled Monday. (It took 'em 4 days to schedule and perform the appraisal and write up the settlement)

I filed the claim through my own insurance who will subrogate it to Nationwide, the other driver's insurance, who already accepted liability.

Their driver was ticketed for running a Stop and failure to yield, (Dash Cam FTW!) and he actually told the officer, "I really misjudged that!"

    Here are some nekkid pics:

(Just look at those supple curves on the A-Pillar!)

Only things holding the tire to the car are the rubber part of the brake line and some wiring. The part with the rubber boot that's sitting on the frame isn't actually connected to anything under the car.

Everything was pretty much ripped off the frame (control arms, shock tower assembly, driveshaft was ripped out, The CVT was cracked, though I couldn't get any decent pics since the car is sitting on its frame. I wasn't allowed to pop the hood but was told everything was ripped of the engine on the right side and everything mounted to the fender in that area was crushed.

Neck is still sore which I guess is to be expected, considering he hit me hard enough to knock me over into oncoming traffic.

There's an identical 3.6Limited waiting for me at the dealership (same options, same color even) but I'm thinking about getting an Outback 3.6 Touring. The bigger cargo area would be useful for when I buy bulky things like large computer cases and gaming chairs and stuff like that...but I dunno.

Glad you’re ok, speaks to Subaru that you’re choosing to get another. Can you speak to the eyesight option and emergency braking system during your accident? I’ve read some comments that it has stopped deer collisions, reduced severity of car accidents, etc

Can you add a picture of the clear bra? And give product/service details? Thinking about getting it on mine, but might only do the front bumper because I don’t want to see a line on my hood.

  5. I'm at 165,000+ miles on my '16 daily commuter.

Biggest issue so far for me is the windshield failure.

Solid preventative maintenance is key IMHO for longevity and I always do my own.

I suggest spend the $$ and download the full service manual pdf.

This forum has also been an invaluable resource. Odds are pretty good that most problems have been resolved, or at least discussed here at length.

I've done many mods but you mention specifically headlights...

These LED Headlights are what have had installed for about 6 months:

    Lo beam

    Hi beam

Note on the Hi beam that they will come on as DRLs.

Much less expensive than Diode Dynamics and 2 yr warranty.

Have you done anything for your windshield? The dealer recommended contacting my insurance to get added coverage because it was expensive to replace due to the eyesight system.

  6. FWIW: I did consider the Hikari, and they seem like a really good performer for the money, but I thought they were too blue. If you're ok with that, then great!

Also, on the 2018, the highbeams are not used for DRL, so the OP wouldn't have worry about that.

Thanks! I don’t want the blue look. It has DRL “C” LED that are white, as well as white LED fog lights at night.

  7. My suggestion is go Diode Dynamics lights, much better and very solid.

If I had a red car I’d do a vinyl wrap on the roof gloss black, I’d also do a chrome delete too around the windows with vinyl wrap.

But truly it’s your car and your choice.

One thing I suggest new owners is to make sure to put a clear bra on the front of the car, sure it’s expensive but if you care about your car and want to keep it for a long time I think it’s a worthy investment.

I’ve never heard of the clear bra before. Will have to look into that

  8. I’m a new 2018 legacy premium owner, also new to Subaru and AWD. Picked a Subaru because I intend on driving it forever. I’m getting the windows tinted this week, I’ve also purchased a chemical guy wax kit to keep the paint in top shape.

I’m looking for recommendations on basic mods I can do myself. Specifically LED headlight upgrade (it looks like I need low and hi beam). I’ve been looking at diode dynamics and it seems straight forward like I could do it myself.

I think the back of the car looks pretty boring too. I haven’t seen any posts on taillight mods or kits. Am I the only one who feels the need to upgrade the back? Maybe a spoiler?
