My bf helped me assemble the struts today, can someone tell me if they look correct?
-
I picked up a set of spring compressors and attempted to assemble the front struts ahead of time so that this weekend I can just put them in the car but I couldn’t figure it out. When I place the first coil of the bottom into the strut , it tilts the spring at an angle making it very difficult to align the spring seat on top of the spring. Is the whole first coil suppose to sit making full contact with the strut base? Or is just the the tip of the spring that’s suppose to make contact ? Is the spring supposed to be angled when I try placing the spring seat?

Thank you! Any recommendations on how to trim it? Front the top (wide side) or from the bottom? Maybe from both sides ?

If its so loose that it slides back down the shock rod on its own, then get an OEM one and cut it down. If it simply slides easily, don't worry about it.
This. The stopper Eibach provided has a hole that’s too big and it slides down the rod on its own. If Eibach springs were made to use the factory struts, wouldn’t they know the stopper they provided is too big?
Also, I don’t remember seeing an rear bump stop on the diagrams , can someone provide with the part number they are using ?

I picked up the oem stopper for the front struts and the boots for both front and back. I tried the stopper that came with the eibach springs for the rear shocks and it is very loose compared to the fronts which are a tight fit, is it okay to be loose for the rears?

Get rid of the KYB bump stops with the integrate dust covers and use the OEM ones. As I mention before the KYB ones are universal and end up being a hack job that doesn't really work well. Learn from my experience.
Do you think I could get away with just buying the oem bump stop and using the kyb boot?

Thank you, the bump stops that eibach provided with the springs for the rear are already shorter than the front ones , so should I cut them down even more?
Does that mean I also have to cut down the kyb front ones ?

For the Legacy this is the upper spring seat and the bottom side where the spring sits up against has a rubber insert built into it.
What you bought was the OUTBACK upper spring seat rubber isolator.
The Outback front springs have a larger diameter at the top of the springs and use a different upper spring seat than the Legacy, and therefore require the rubber isolator. Make sure you didn't buy an Outback upper spring seat, it will not work with your Legacy springs.
Thank you! I will return those parts. I also checked and I do have the correct spring seat. I also received the dust covers for the rear shocks and noticed they didn’t have stoppers like the front, but My eibach springs came with their own rear stoppers , are these necessary ?

The part number is 20325aa001

I purchased the rubber seat ,spring seat and space for the front struts. Tried putting them together, pretty straight forward , but I’m struggling with the rubber seat . Is it suppose to be loose or wrap around the spring seat? I couldn’t find any clear pictures to see how it goes assembled. If anyone could please point me in the right direction

I also did have a question about the dust cover and the bump stop, is the bump stop suppose to slide down all the way down to that silver plate on the strut? Or does it rest at the top ? When I tried assembling it I had to force it down a bit until it was resting on that silver plate

Thank you! I knew there was something missing. I looked at the Subaru diagram for the front suspension and they only have the mount, spring, strut and bum and dust cover. There’s no conical washer or upper spring seat and rock auto doesn’t seem to have it either . Does Any one have the part numbers?

I bought the Kyb struts and mounts to install the springs my boyfriend bought for me
340043 - rear struts
3340106/7- front struts
Sm5765 - read mounts
Sm5361- front mounts
Sb103/sb113- belows
But from what I’ve read on the forum it seems like I’m missing some pieces ? Is there something that goes between the mounts and the springs?
My car is from 2014
