  1. Sarang, Yes I would be interested in installing a Fumoto valve. Would you mind Steering me in the right direction where I can get one? Thanks for the info!!
  2. I’m wondering if Walmart didn’t have a washer and painted the whole area with the blue stuff. When I took the bolt out, I had to feel my way around. In my opinion, at first I thought there might be a washer stuck on the pan. After feeling around, it seemed like threads running all the way to the edge of the hole.
  3. Ok, I’ve been working on changing my oil for the last couple of weeks. Today I put a 1/2” breaker bar on the bolt, which was very tight and Walmart blue goop on the bolt. I got the bolt loose, without lifting the car. Health issues keeps me from doing things that I used to do. Anyway, after getting the bolt out, there was no crush washer on it. I do have a question though, because space was limited, I could not tell if the crush washer was stuck on the oil pan. It looked to me that after removing the drain bolt, there is a little flange between the drain hole and the pan. Can anyone please confirm this? I put on a new crush washer and it seemed to do its job.
  4. I spoke with the guy at Walmart. He advised me that they put the goo on there, to see if someone breaks the seal and tampered with it. It’s a good idea, but it seems like they really tightened the bolt good. I’ll have to take the advice of getting a breaker bar, and try it again. Thanks for the info.
  5. Ok, My first mistake was going to Walmart for an oil change. Now it’s possible that the bolt was leaking. It’s the first oil change done, since I purchased this 2014 Legacy 2.5. Attempting to do an oil change this morning, there was a glob of blue stuff like epoxy on the bolt. Telling me Walmart over tightened or they were trying to fix a leaky bolt. Either way, I would like to get this bolt off, start doing my own oil changes again, and hopefully be able to fix this problem without breaking the bank. In the past, I’ve used an oversized bolt, which I had pretty good luck with. It’s been years since I’ve done that fix, and I don’t remember if I need a certain thread size? Also, someone mentioned to me, about some type of spout, which makes oil changes a bit easier. Please, if anyone has ever dealt with this problem before, can you please share some information? All I know is that I put a12” breaker bar on the bolt, and it was very tight. I was afraid of breaking the pan or the bolt. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
  6. Forgot to mention, the price that the hardware store charges ,includes programming . I wouldn’t want to set the alarm off when I opened the door. If that is the case, I’ll probably splurge for a fob key. Thanks for all the info!!
  7. So , would a chipped key without a fob be no good? That’s what I was thinking, if I opened the door lock with a chipped key, the anti theft system would still be on. With no way of turning it off.
  8. My car only came with one key. There’s a local hardware store in my area that cuts and programs keys. They are pretty expensive. The key with the built in fob is about 200.00 , a key without the fob, is 89.00. Question, I’m new to Subaru. If I use the key without a fob to open the door. Will it activate an alarm? I’m not sure if using a fob key unlocks the doors and deactivates an alarm at the same time.
  9. Thanks, nice job on your car... Looks great!!
  10. Sorry if I’m posting this in the wrong area. I tried posting in the classified area, but can’t seem to. Does anybody know where I can get a lower front grille for a 2014 legacy, without breaking the bank? Thanks
  11. It is new to me. Currently 133000 on the clock. It’s been in an accident, after being repaired, I test drove it. Got a great deal on it.
  12. The noise doesn’t really bother me. I just didn’t want to damage the car. Appreciate the input from everyone.
  13. Ok, I’m currently driving a 2014 Legacy 2.5. All in all, I’m happy with the car. I’ve wanted a Subaru for years, and now finally have one. One question I have is, while driving on the highway, the car cruises beautifully going down the road at 70 to 80 MPH. When I go to pass another driver, the car gets louder when I give it gas while passing. Almost like it has an aftermarket exhaust like the kids use on their cars. Is this normal? I was told before I bought the car, that boxer engines are a little bit noisy. If anyone has any feedback, it will be greatly appreciated. I did take a quick look under the car today, thinking that maybe a hole in the muffler or exhaust pipe might be the culprit. Nothing looked out of place.
  14. Has anyone ever had to access the windshield washer reservoir? I have a problem with mine. This car has been in an accident before. It’s been hit on the front left corner. When the body work was done, they never realized that the reservoir was broken. Now, when I add fluid, it just leaks out fast. It seems like the tank is cracked. From the videos that I have watched, it looks like it’s a big job, just to get access to it. I was hoping that someone could maybe tell me an easier way to fix it. Thanks in advance
  15. No, it’s an automatic cvt transmission
  16. I'm new to Subaru. The car currently has 132,000 on it. It's a 2014. Not really sure what 6MT is.
  17. I just read that it is common to have to add motor oil between oil changes. After checking the level in my car, with 1000 miles since the last change. Sure enough, it was a little low..less than a pint. Quick question: Can I add some Lucas oil treatment to maybe slow it down? Or is that not recommended?
