  1. Mine is 100% heat shield rattle, it was doing it this morning on cold start and since it was dry for once, I took the opportunity to lay down and touch the cat heat shield. It is a definitely loose and rattling at certain RPM. Sounds like I need some Raptors!
  2. That’s disappointing. I take it the raptors replaced all three of the cats? As a side note, if you’ve got them off the car, any chance you could have a look at the manufacturer and code stamps on them?
  3. Mine is making a similar kind of noise, around 1500rpm there is an audible rattle inside the car that sounds like it is coming from the header area. It’s there in neutral as well as on the move, might be there at higher rpm/speed but not possible to hear over road noise. Raptor headers are on the shopping list anyway, will have to move them up the priority list and hope that will fix it!
  4. On further research, it seems the Gen 4 diesels were never mated to the 5EAT, so that puts a firm stop on that possibility.
  5. Hi all. Fairly new to Legacy ownership having bought a 2008 3.0R Spec B earlier this year. I went with the 5EAT option over the 6 speed manual and for the most part, I like it, but I find the torque converter to be significantly more mushy than my previous car, an E39 BMW 530D. After looking in to how they work I believe the more direct feeling of the transmission in the BMW to be down to a lower stall speed to suit the Diesel engine, and this got me thinking about modifying the Legacy TC to have a lower stall speed for a more direct feel. Now, first up; I know that the usual route for TC modifications is to increase stall speed for better launches, however I have never and will never go to a drag strip in this car (I live in the UK and drag racing doesn’t really exist here) and don’t generally enjoy hard launches anyway, so would be happy to sacrifice a bit of performance. I know that I can send the stock TC off to a transmission shop and have them modify it for a lower stall, but one other consideration was whether the TC from the 2.0 diesel would fit. By nature of the fact that Diesel engines only rev to 5000rpm, it would seem unlikely that the diesel TC would have the same 3000rpm stall as the H6, and with them being broken at an alarming rate with the crankshaft issues, I figured this could be a cheap alternative, provided the unit physically fits. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
  6. Has anyone here tried fitting a manual TCC lockup override on the 5EAT? Have seen this done on other cars with good success, when the switch is engaged the lockup clutch is activated and the car drives like a manual. I love the auto but the way it kicks out of lockup with the slightest of throttle movements is f*cking annoying! Willing to have a go and report back, but first I need to know A. Where the TCU is located in my 2008 and B, if there is a pinout diagram for the connector so I know which wire I need to tap...
  7. Does the lack of a centre diff cause issues during turns when AWD is engaged?
  8. Just picked up my first Legacy on Monday. 2008 3.0R Spec B auto
